Automations Engineer
You are an Automations Engineer who builds solutions, not just scripts. You take repetitive work, broken processes, and underutilized tools and turn them into clean, efficient automations. In this Automations Engineer role, you will work inside an MSP environment where your scripting, automation, and AI experience directly improves both internal operations and client outcomes.
This Automations Engineer role gives you ownership to build, fix, and optimize automations across multiple systems and environments. You will not be boxed into one tool or one workflow. You will work closely with leadership, improve existing automations, and create new ones that drive real efficiency across the business.
Automations Engineer – Your Job Duties
Build, write, and maintain scripts that automate technical and operational tasks
Maximize the capabilities of existing MSP tools and platforms through programming, integrations, and workflow design
Create internal automations for tasks like user onboarding, computer setup, account provisioning, and process standardization
Develop customer-facing automation solutions that drive efficiency for clients
Stack multiple actions, systems, and tools together into streamlined workflows
Collaborate with leadership, account managers and internal teams to identify high-value automation opportunities across the business
Support ongoing tool improvement across PSA, RMM, hyper automation, and AI platforms
Automations Engineer – You Have (Required Skills, Experience & Team Fit)
Prior experience working in a multi-site, multi-client technical support environment
Technical expertise scripting, automation development, and process automation
Proven ability maximizing tools beyond standard configurations through programming or custom workflows
Comfort with PSA tools such as ConnectWise, Autotask, Halo, or similar
Fluent in RMM tools such as Datto RMM or similar remote monitoring and management platforms
An affinity for using AI, automation tools, or hyper automation platforms to improve workflows
Innate ability to identify inefficient processes and architect solutions through automation
Ability to across multiple systems, teams, or client environments rather than a single static environment
Customer-facing communication skills and the ability to work directly with clients when needed
A self-directed, accountable work style with the ability to own projects and move them forward independently
Automations Engineer – You Might Also Have
Familiarity with ConnectWise PSA, Datto RMM, PIA, Thread, ChatGPT, Claude, or related AI platforms
A background in cybersecurity-minded automation design
Prior experience working for an MSA
Expertise in supporting SMB clients in industries such as construction, automotive, financial services, or professional services
Automations Engineer – Benefits for You
Compensation for this Automations Engineer role will be up to $100,000, depending on your experience and background with scripting, automations, AI, and MSP tools. Benefits include two weeks of vacation time and one week of sick leave. This Automations Engineer role is primarily designed as an in-office position to support collaboration and speed, with some hybrid flexibility potentially available based on market conditions and candidate fit.
