Position Type:Student Support Services/Speech and Language PathologistDate Posted:11/18/2025Location:Minnesota Valley Education District (MVED)Date Available:August 2026MVED Job PostingSpeech Language Pathologist Assistant - SLPAMinnesota Valley Education District (MVED) is looking for a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA).Job Location: St. Peter, MNJob Summary:Under the direction of the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), will work to provide direct instruction for students who qualify for speech/language services under the MN Special Education Speech Criteria; serve as a member of the educational team by consulting and collaborating with the supervising SLP, school staff, Special Education team, and other staff regarding services to students. Responsible for providing direct, and indirect/consultative speech/language therapy services in accordance with a student's Individualized Educational Plan (IEP); and adapt school and classroom environments, tools, and materials in collaboration with the SLP to improve student communication.Major Duties & Responsibilities:Meet regularly with the supervising SLP to coordinate services, maintain timely documentation of services, update student information, and design therapy materials for intervention.Provide direct services targeting speech/language goals and objectives in student IEPs.Develop lesson plans, prep materials, and make visuals for speech services provided to students.Provide documentation of student services progress reports, annual IEP present levels of performance, and suggestions for skills to target in goals/objectives for review by SLP.Provide indirect services to assist with transitioning skills into general education classroom.Conduct/assist with articulation screenings, including scheduling student sessions.Other duties as assigned.Qualifications:Associates degree from a speech-language pathology assistant programOR a Bachelor's degree in the discipline of communication sciences or disorders with additional transcript credit in the area of instruction in assistant-level service delivery practices and completion of at least 100 hours of supervised field work experience as a speech-language pathology assistant studentExcellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication with staff, students, and parents that is maintained during high-stress and crisis situationsAbility to create and write correspondence, and other communication materialsAbility and willingness to work with students receiving SLP servicesAbility to work cooperatively with students and staff; accepting feedback from SLP/Supervisor while continuing to maintain good relationshipsAbility to travel between buildings during the duty day may be required- work may take place in multiple school sitesAbility to maintain regular attendance; which includes completing an assigned dayAbility to perform position responsibilities including physical factors, work devices, and materials handling, data functions, and people functionsMust be physically working in the building/onsiteSpeech Language Pathologist Assistant Certification preferredAttachment(s):SLP Assistant 26-27
