Power Electronics Controls Engineer Location: Burlington VT- Hybrid- 3/2 as neededA leading power electronics organization is seeking a Power Electronics Controls Engineer to support the design, development, and validation of embedded control systems for high-power electronic converters. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on developing control algorithms, embedded software, and validation processes for commercial power conversion systems used in grid-connected and customer-facing applications.Key Responsibilities:Design, develop, and validate control algorithms for high-power electronic systemsDevelop and modify embedded control software for microcontrollers, DSPs, and related embedded platformsWrite and tune low-level control loops for power conversion and grid-connected applicationsSupport interdisciplinary design reviews, feasibility studies, system testing, and product development effortsParticipate in development testing, qualification testing, and production launch activitiesConduct failure analysis, troubleshooting, and engineering evaluations on hardware and control systemsCreate and maintain technical documentation including design reports, test procedures, and operating manualsCollaborate with senior engineers, product teams, and customer-facing stakeholders to define requirements and support project executionSupport embedded systems design, integration, and validation in commercial power electronics environmentsContribute to continuous improvement across design, testing, validation, and production readiness processesQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent relevant experienceExperience designing, developing, or validating embedded control systems for power electronics or hardware-based applicationsHands-on experience writing low-level control loops for embedded platforms such as microcontrollers, DSPs, or microprocessorsEmbedded software development experience with MCU/DSP environments such as STM32, Texas Instruments Code Composer Studio, or similar platformsExperience testing, validating, and troubleshooting hardware, embedded systems, or high-power electronic equipmentKnowledge of power electronics systems such as inverters, converters, rectifiers, energy storage systems, industrial power systems, or grid-connected equipmentExposure to grid-connected control strategies such as grid-following controls, grid-forming controls, or droop control algorithmsExperience with control validation tools or methods, including Hardware-in-the-Loop testing or similar platformsFamiliarity with communication protocols such as Modbus, CANbus, OPC-UA, or Ethernet TCP/IPExposure to grid interconnection, safety, or control software standards such as UL 1998, IEEE 1547, or UL 1741Strong technical documentation, debugging, and cross-functional engineering collaboration skills#LI-ES2
