Factory Quality Engineer

Job Description The Factory Quality Engineer is responsible for driving continuous process improvement in the manufacturing process to improve First-Time-Right, reduce the Cost of Poor Quality, and address timely quality discrepancies and countermeasures to minimize any impact on delivery commitments. He / she will collaborate with their Factory team in assessing, developing, and executing process improvement initiatives and operational enhancement programs that deliver strategic value and profitable growth for their business.Summary:As an Entry-Level Quality Engineer I, you will play a key role in ensuring our products meet the highest standards of safety, reliability, and compliance. You will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to support inspections, resolve quality issues, and maintain compliance with industry regulations such as AS9100 and ITAR. This position is ideal for recent graduates or early-career engineers eager to develop their skills in a precision-driven, mission-critical environment.How you will be rewarded as a Factory Quality Engineer• Monday-Thursday work week working four 10-hour days • Off on Fridays • Generous paid time off and Holiday Pay • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance • 401(K), employee assistance programs, flexible spending accountPrimary Responsibilities:• Supports quality activities in manufacturing and works collaboratively with program quality engineering to ensure the flow-down and compliance with customer contractual requirements. • Supports development projects, with manufacturing, planning and other disciplines to ensure the quality of the product. • Supports investigation of internal and external quality concerns and works within a cross functional team to determine root cause and implement corrective actions. • Inspects and reviews of manufacturing and quality records for completeness and correctness. • Working with the IP team to review work instructions and procedures for errors and potential failures. • Works with mentor to establish in-process quality control, audits, and reports results and drives continuous improvements. • Supports FOD prevention and safety programs, drives improvements with the operations teams. • Participates in the Material Review Board, supports driving timely disposition of materials and effective corrective actions. • Helps to Develop and implement Visual Quality Factory reports as needed to support daily management. • Works to establish a Built-In-Quality into the manufacturing processes environment. • Reads and interprets basic engineering drawings & specifications. Has a basic understanding of inspection tools. • Works with supplier quality engineering in the effective resolution of supplier quality defects affecting manufacturing first-time-right. • Works with manufacturing engineering in the optimization of manufacturing processes, including automation of manufacturing, in-process and final quality inspection methods to reduce ergonomic safety risks for manufacturing and quality control employees. • Supports engineering during both the development cycle and product introduction phase for various defense and military related products. • Supports QC inspectors on DR initiation. Has a basic knowledge of GD&T and AS9102 FAI&#39;s. • Collects basic data on quality issues. Is familiar with simple tools like 5 Whys and understands KPIs and how they impact COPQ. • Supports Visual Daily Management and drives daily short and long-term quality countermeasures for timely resolution of quality discrepancies. • Actively supports frequent process/product spot audits, helps to coordinate rapid response for findings with manufacturing, quality, manufacturing engineering and workforce employees as necessary. • Ensures the manufacturing activities are performed in compliance with the Quality Management System requirements. • Supports change proposals in collaboration with manufacturing, customer and project engineering. • Builds a quality library of defects, containment and corrective actions and lessons learned to support process improvement projects. • Prepares and communicates quality alerts to heighten employee awareness towards internal or external quality concerns when needed. • Follows standard practices and safety procedures. • Strictly adherence to all safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.Job Qualifications: • Effective analytical and critical thinking capabilities, sound judgement coupled with effective decision-making skills. • Passion for problem solving and continuous improvement. • Ability to support Containment, Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Actions in a cross-functional team environment. • Knowledge of Lean tools such as standard work, Value Stream Mapping, Daily Visual Management, 5S, 5Whys, Cause Maps, Fishbone, Fault Tree Analysis, Problem Solving Process, and Visual Project Management. • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to support multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting challenging deadlines. • Track and record delivering results in a high paced and constantly changing environment. • Excellent attention to detail and follow up. • Strong work ethic, and self-motivated with the ability to work in a team atmosphere. • Experience in manufacturing preferred. • Exposure to AS9100 / ISO 9000 quality management systems, corrective and preventative action. • Strong oral and written communication skills. • Good organization and project time management skills. • Competence in Word, Power Point and Excel and familiarity to ERP/MRP systems. • Ability to gain BATF clearance.COMPETENCIES:&middot; Excellent communication and collaboration skills. &middot; Strong attention to detail. &middot; Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities. &middot; Ability to work in fast-paced environments.WORKING CONDITIONS:&middot; Full-time on-site position. &middot; This position may require travel on an as-needed basis. &middot; This position may require working in diverse settings and conditions.**Note**: Due to US Export Control laws and regulations; applicants selected for employment must show proof of a U.S. Person status before employment may begin.
