Sr Superintendent - MEP

Job Description Position OverviewThe General Superintendent is a senior field leadership role responsible for overseeing the execution of complex construction projects, with a strong focus on MEP systems including mechanical and plumbing scopes. This position leads field operations, drives project performance, and ensures all work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.The General Superintendent serves as a key liaison between field teams and project leadership, providing strategic oversight while mentoring teams and ensuring seamless coordination across all trades and project stakeholders.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee and manage daily field operations, including scheduling, coordination, and supervision of crews, subcontractors, and vendors.Develop and implement a master project plan, ensuring alignment with project schedules, budgets, and milestones.Collaborate with project management to support scheduling, resource planning, and cost control efforts.Maintain adherence to project schedules and proactively address delays or productivity issues.Monitor jobsite safety, quality, and performance across all trades.Coordinate and schedule all daily and weekly work activities to maintain project momentum.Lead field execution of MEP systems, including coordination with prefabrication and design teams.Review labor productivity, job costs, and project performance metrics with project leadership on a regular basis.Coordinate inspections with governing agencies and maintain strong relationships with inspectors.Manage materials, tools, and equipment to ensure proper allocation and availability.Maintain accurate and complete project documentation, including daily reports and job tracking systems.Ensure proper cost coding, time tracking, and reporting for all field personnel.Lead project closeout activities including punch list completion, owner training, final cleanup, and documentation.Identify and implement corrective actions to address field challenges and improve project outcomes.Leadership & Team DevelopmentMentor, coach, and develop field personnel across all levels of the organization.Promote a strong culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.Provide leadership to multiple teams and support coordination across various trades and disciplines.Participate in training initiatives and support workforce development efforts.Foster collaboration between field teams, project management, and leadership.Qualifications15+ years of experience in construction field operations, with a strong background in mechanical and plumbing systems (MEP).Proven experience in a General Superintendent or senior field leadership role managing large or complex projects.Strong understanding of construction scheduling, sequencing, and field coordination.Experience managing multiple teams, subcontractors, and large-scale project operations.Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project schedules.Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.Ability to manage budgets, labor productivity, and project performance in a fast-paced environment.Experience coordinating inspections and working with regulatory agencies.Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.Experience working on large-scale commercial, industrial, or MEP-focused projects.Familiarity with prefabrication strategies, BIM/VDC coordination, and advanced scheduling methods.Experience contributing to project strategy, planning, and execution at a senior level.
