Freight Operations & Carrier Development Coordinator

HTR LogisticsHTR Logistics is seeking a highly motivated, relationship driven Freight Operations & Carrier Development Coordinator to join our growing team.This is not a traditional back office logistics position. We are looking for someone who can confidently manage day to day freight operations while also developing and maintaining strong carrier relationships that support long term growth and operational success.This role is heavily involved in the day to day execution of freight operations and requires someone who thrives in a fast paced environment, communicates professionally, thinks critically under pressure, and takes pride in building strong relationships with both carriers and customers.We are looking for someone who is proactive, organized, detail oriented, and genuinely passionate about transportation and logistics.Work Environment & ScheduleThis is a full time, in office position based in the heart of downtown Lexington, Kentucky.Our office is located near some of Lexington’s best restaurants, coffee shops, entertainment, and events, creating an energetic and enjoyable work environment that blends fast paced logistics with the vibrancy of downtown life. From lunch spots and rooftop happy hours to concerts, basketball games, and summer events near Rupp Arena, there is always something happening nearby.The schedule for this role is Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. While transportation and logistics can occasionally require after hours or weekend support, we strongly value teamwork, communication, and work life balance across our organization.We are looking for someone who enjoys being part of a collaborative, high energy office environment and wants to grow with a company that is continuing to build something special.Core ResponsibilitiesFreight Operations & Shipment ManagementManage day to day freight operations from pickup through final deliverySource, negotiate, and book carriers for both spot and contracted freight opportunitiesDispatch carriers and maintain consistent communication throughout transitTrack and monitor active shipments to ensure on time pickup and delivery performanceProactively communicate shipment updates, delays, issues, and resolutions to customers and internal team membersCoordinate appointments, scheduling, and operational details with shippers, receivers, and carriersMaintain accurate and timely updates within the TMS and tracking platformsEnsure all loads are properly covered, tracked, and serviced according to HTR Logistics’ standardsAssist with problem solving and service recovery when operational challenges ariseFollow shipments closely throughout the entire lifecycle, ensuring a high level of customer service and executionCommunicate professionally through phone and email with customers, carriers, and internal team membersMaintain a high level of professionalism, proper grammar, punctuation, and attention to detail in all written communicationCarrier Development & Relationship ManagementBuild and maintain strong relationships with carriers across HTR Logistics’ networkDevelop strategic carrier partnerships for both transactional and long term contracted businessNegotiate competitive rates while maintaining strong, long term relationshipsExpand carrier capacity in strategic lanes and key marketsSource and onboard qualified carriers that align with company standards and compliance requirementsUtilize market knowledge and pricing trends to support carrier procurement effortsWork closely with internal operations and leadership teams to support customer growth and service goalsQualificationsMinimum of 2 years of experience in freight brokerage, logistics coordination, carrier sales, and transportation operations requiredExperience managing freight from pickup through delivery requiredStrong carrier sales and carrier relationship management experience requiredExperience negotiating and managing both spot and contracted freight requiredExcellent communication skills required, both verbal and writtenStrong email communication skills with proper grammar, punctuation, and professionalism requiredAbility to multitask and prioritize in a fast paced environmentStrong sense of urgency, organization, and attention to detailAbility to problem solve and think critically under pressurePositive attitude with a team first mentalityExperience using transportation and logistics software platforms preferredSystems & Platforms UsedOur team utilizes a variety of industry leading tools and technology platforms, including:TAI Software for transportation management and load operationsMacropoint for real time carrier tracking and shipment visibilityHighway for carrier onboarding, compliance, and vettingDAT for carrier sourcing and spot market capacityPC Miler for mileage and routingSalesdash for customer and prospect relationship managementExperience with these platforms is a plus, but not required.
