Counsel
The Counsel provides legal advice and counsel throughout the organization on various matters in support of the overall legal strategy developed by the SVP, General Counsel. This position is responsible for drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and interpreting complex contracts and RFPs/bid documents both for the refined products and natural gas businesses, engage in negotiations and dispute resolutions, as well as work on various legal and business research projects.
Responsibilities
Contracts
Draft and review contracts
Negotiate contract details with internal and external customers
Review RFPs/bids with appropriate department representatives and provide legal analysis
Research Projects
Conduct research and provide memoranda on various legal and business matters
including but not limited to natural gas regulations and tariffs
Miscellaneous
Assist with various matters, including but not limited to insurance, litigation and employment law topics
Position Requirements
Formal Education & Certification
Law degree from an accredited law school
Knowledge & Experience
Strong contract drafting and negotiating skills
Previous experience (1+ years) working in a corporate law department or a law firm
Qualifications & Characteristics

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in all interactions with management, other internal clients, all levels of employees, and third parties
Work Environment
40-hour on-site work week (with potential for up to 2 days/week remote in time)
Sitting for extended periods of time
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and other computer components
