KABC Maintenance Engineer (As-Needed)KABC-TV, the ABC Owned Television station in Los Angeles, is seeking skilled NABET Maintenance Engineers for as-needed employment. These positions will support critical broadcast and production systems powering one of the nation's leading local news Maintenance Engineer role is part of the Technology team responsible for maintaining reliable technical infrastructure across studio, control room, and field production environments. The ideal candidate thrives in a cooperative workspace, live broadcast setting and brings strong troubleshooting expertise across modern broadcast and IT-based workflows.What You Will DoMaintain and support broadcast technical systems including cameras, production switchers, routers, intercom, RF/audio systems, and transmission equipmentTroubleshoot and resolve issues across video, audio, control, and IP-based systems in real timeProvide technical support during live broadcasts, ensuring minimal disruption to on-air operationsPerform preventative maintenance, and equipment repairsSupport ENG, field operations, vehicles and remote productions as neededWork with vendors and manufacturers for system support, repairs, and lifecycle managementAssist in planning and installation of new technologies and facility upgradesRequired Qualifications & SkillsMinimum 3 years of broadcast maintenance, systems engineering, or related technical experienceStrong troubleshooting skills across video (SDI/IP), audio, RF, and control systemsExperience with broadcast infrastructure such as routers, servers, automation, and playback systemsWorking knowledge of IP networking and file-based/media workflowsStrong communication and teamwork skillsFlexibility to work varied shifts, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidaysValid Driver's licensePreferred QualificationsKnowledge of RF systems, wireless audio, and spectrum coordinationFamiliarity with service ticketing system workflowsRemote production and off-site production workflowsExperience with major broadcast vendors (e.g., Ross, Evertz, Panasonic, Adobe)Required Education:High school diploma or equivalentPreferred EducationBachelor's degree in Engineering, Broadcast Technology, IT, or related field or equivalent work experienceAdditional InformationWork is performed in a broadcast facility environment and may include physical activity such as lifting equipment and working in technical spacesOvertime may be available as station needs and scheduling allow
