Over 10,000 homeless individuals are cared for by Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program each year. Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program is looking for a Nurse Practitioner/ Physician Assistant who will provide comprehensive, high-quality primary, episodic and/or recuperative care at our primary care clinic and respite care facility. It is a collaborative practice where medical, behavioral health, and case management staff work to meet the various needs of patients during their stay.Responsibilities:Provide comprehensive, high quality primary or episodic care at various clinical sites staffed by Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program; work as part of multi-disciplinary team in caring for patientsMay work at shelter-based clinic, hospital-based clinic, respite facility or at one of of primary care clinicsElicit an appropriate history, perform physical examinations, order diagnostic studies, interpret results and initiate therapy in accordance with the Guidelines for Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners of Boston Health Care for the Homeless ProgramRefer patients as appropriate to medical specialists, hospital admission, recuperative care and detox facilities, providing appropriate information for continuity of care; provide education to patients on health promotion and disease treatment and preventionParticipate in collaborative relationship with BHCHP physician according to the Regulations of the Commonwealth of MassachusettsMaintain adequate, up-to-date medical records, completed in a timely manner, according to the guidelines of BHCHP, employing standard forms such as problem lists, medication lists, etc.Maintain active DPH, DEA, and professional license, hospital privileges, managed care credentialing and CPR training.Qualifications:Licensed by the Commonwealth of MassachusettsRegistered or eligible to be registered with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the Federal Drug Enforcement AgencyAt least one year of NP/PA experience requiredExperience in working with underserved populations, mentally ill, homeless and/or persons with substance use disorders preferredLife support training certification (e.g. CPR, BLS, ACLS) from a course that includes a hands-on, in-person componentBilingual proficiency preferredCompensation:* The compensation is $77.00 per hour.Does this amazing opportunity interest you?
