This is a great opportunity for dependable, community-minded individuals who want to help support student safety and school operations. Assigned employees will help promote pedestrian and traffic safety at assigned school locations before and after school and may assist with other approved school-related safety support functions as needed.Selected candidates will be assigned to a specific school within the Ascension Parish School District based on staffing needs.Primary ResponsibilitiesAssist students, pedestrians, and families with safe crossing at assigned school locations.Observe traffic flow and promote orderly movement of vehicles and pedestrians in designated areas.Remain alert and attentive while posted in school traffic zones, crosswalks, and other assigned areas.Report safety concerns, incidents, unusual conditions, or suspicious activity to the appropriate School Board and/or Sheriff's Office representative.Follow all site-specific instructions, safety procedures, and post orders.Wear any required safety equipment, identification, or visibility gear while on duty.Maintain a professional, courteous, and calm presence when interacting with students, parents, school staff, law enforcement, and the public.Remain at the assigned post for the full scheduled shift unless otherwise directed by an authorized supervisor.Attend and successfully complete required orientation and training before beginning the assignment.ScheduleThis is a part-time, school-year position for the 2026-2027 school year. The schedule will typically include morning and afternoon coverage on school days, with approximately 4 to 6 hours of work per day. Exact reporting times may vary by assigned school, school calendar, traffic needs, early dismissals, and other approved school-related activities.RequirementsMust be able to work both morning and afternoon shifts.Must successfully pass a criminal background check.Must complete required orientation and training for the role.Must be dependable, punctual, and able to report to the assigned school location as scheduled.Must be able to follow instructions from authorized Ascension Parish School Board and/or Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office representatives.Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally with students, parents, staff, law enforcement, and the public.Must be able to remain alert and exercise good judgment in active traffic and pedestrian areas.Must maintain professional conduct and comply with all AMMON Staffing policies and applicable school/site rules.Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.Must be able to stand, walk, observe surroundings, use hand signals or crossing equipment, and remain at an assigned post for the duration of the scheduled shift, with or without reasonable accommodation.Must be authorized to work in the United States. Preferred QualificationsPrior crossing guard, school support, safety, traffic control, security, public service, or customer service experience is helpful but not required.Strong reliability, patience, professionalism, and attention to safety.Interest in supporting students, schools, and the local community. Work EnvironmentThis position is performed at assigned Ascension Parish school locations, primarily outdoors near school traffic areas, crosswalks, driveways, and pedestrian pathways. Employees may be exposed to weather, vehicle traffic, noise, and busy school arrival and dismissal periods. Training and SupervisionEmployees will undergo orientation and role-specific training before beginning the assignment. This position is performed in coordination with Ascension Parish Schools and the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office. Day-to-day assignment instructions and worksite direction may be provided by authorized School Board and/or Sheriff's Office representatives.
