PODER Academy and PODER Academy Secondary SchoolESL TeacherSchool Year 2026-2027MissionThe PODER Academy Secondary School prepares students for college and beyond through rigorous academic and athletic programs.Position SummaryThe job of the Teacher - English for Speakers of Other Languages is done for the purpose of providing support to the instructional process by serving as a teacher with specific responsibility for developing quality language instruction and services to students whose first language is not English; supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in assessments; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students; parents or guardians. Administers screenings and yearly language assessments for the purpose of evaluating students' language ability. Assesses student progress toward objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration, to inform planning/identify student needs, and monitor progress. Participates in a variety of meetings for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions. Provides language instruction, assessment, planning and support to English for speakers of other languages for the purpose of improving their success in academics and socialization skills.
