This role is responsible for assisting machinists with tooling preparation, part handling, deburring, packaging, equipment maintenance, and laser marking. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and capable of working in a regulated aerospace manufacturing environment.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Tooling SupportAssist machinists with tool preparation, presetting, cleaning, and organizationHelp maintain tooling inventory and report worn or damaged toolsEnsure tooling is properly labeled, stored, and handledDeburring & Part FinishingPerform manual deburring, edge breaking, and basic finishing per work instructionsUse hand tools, abrasives, and pneumatic tools safely and effectivelyEnsure parts meet dimensional, visual, and cosmetic requirementsPackaging & Shipping PreparationPackage machined parts per aerospace specifications to prevent damage or contaminationApply proper identification, labeling, and documentationAssist with kitting and preparation for internal or external processingLaser MarkingOperate laser marking equipment under established proceduresVerify part orientation, marking location, and content per drawings or customer requirementsInspect marked parts for clarity, accuracy, and complianceAssemblyPerforms manual/mechanized assembly operationsResponsible for adhering to all safety and quality requirementsProcess specifications using hand tools, machinery, air presses, jigs and other equipment and toolingMust be able to follow work instructionsShop Maintenance & OrganizationAssist with machine cleaning, chip removal, and coolant maintenanceMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work area (5S practices)Perform basic preventive maintenance tasks as directedQuality & SafetyFollow all safety rules, PPE requirements, and shop proceduresComply with aerospace quality standards (AS9100, ITAR, customer requirements)Report nonconforming parts, damaged equipment, or safety concerns promptlyAdditional ResponsibilitiesSupport production flow and meet delivery schedulesAssist with other shop tasks as neededRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentAbility to read and follow work instructions and shop travelersBasic mechanical aptitude and hand tool experienceAbility to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periodsStrong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environmentWillingness to follow strict safety and quality requirementsPreferred QualificationsPrevious experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environmentFamiliarity with aerospace parts and documentationExperience with deburring, laser marking, or packaging precision componentsBasic understanding of blueprints and GD&TForklift or shop equipment experience (a plus)Work EnvironmentManufacturing shop environment with exposure to machinery, noise, oils, and metal chipsRequired use of PPE including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protectionPhysical DemandsStanding and walking for long periodsFrequent bending, reaching, and handling of parts and toolsManual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination requiredCompensation:Hourly Range: $28.00 - 35.00 per hour.
