The Edustaff Spotlight Program offers a unique opportunity to provide critical support to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 plans, all while advancing your career in a supportive environment.Job Summary:A School Occupational Therapist (OT) works with students to improve their ability to perform daily activities and succeed in the educational environment. They assess, plan, and implement interventions to enhance students' fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-care abilities, and overall functional independence. The OT collaborates with teachers, parents, and other school staff to support students with disabilities, developmental delays, or physical and cognitive challenges.Key Responsibilities:Assessment & Evaluation:Conduct evaluations to assess students' fine motor skills, sensory processing, visual-motor integration, and overall functional abilities.Review medical, psychological, and educational records to develop a comprehensive understanding of student needs.Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings to provide input on necessary accommodations and goals.Intervention & Treatment:Develop and implement individualized therapy plans that align with students' IEP goals.Provide direct therapy sessions to enhance students' motor skills, self-regulation, handwriting, and daily living skills.Recommend adaptive equipment, assistive technology, and environmental modifications to support student participation.Collaboration & Consultation:Work closely with teachers, special education staff, and parents to integrate therapy strategies into the classroom.Provide training and resources to school staff to help implement occupational therapy interventions.Advocate for students by ensuring their needs are met within the school setting.Documentation & Compliance:Maintain accurate records of assessments, progress notes, and therapy sessions.Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding special education services.Prepare reports and communicate with parents, educators, and administrators about student progress. Qualifications & Skills:Education: Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.Licensure & Certification: State OT licensure and NBCOT certification.Experience: Previous experience in school-based occupational therapy preferred.Skills: Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of sensory integration, motor skill development, and assistive technology. Work Environment:Typically works within a school setting, including classrooms, therapy rooms, and playgrounds.May need to travel between multiple school sites.
