Assistant Manager, Maintenance Engineering

Job Title: Assistant ManagerCompany: AISIN North CarolinaDepartment: Maintenance EngineeringLocation: Durham, NCPosition SummaryThe Maintenance Engineer Assistant Manager will provide Engineering support to all maintenance engineering processes and equipment including troubleshooting of processes and equipment, optimizing work processes, as well as the planning and improvement of preventive maintenance processes. He/she will also assist with coordination of outside contractors as well as train and motivate maintenance staff members. Maintain maintenance CMMS, with Asset and Predictive Maintenance activities for each asset. Maintain and track budgets for projects for the maintenance engineer staff.Position ResponsibilitiesThe incumbent is expected to perform the following functions that the company has determined are essential to this position:Ensure a safe working environment for Maintenance personnel and that safety standards are met in accordance with company and departmental policy.Works closely with other departments Leaders (Production, Mfg Eng., etc.) to prioritize task and make sure items are completed in a timely mannerExecute planned maintenance, preventative maintenance, spare parts supply, and contractor servicesMonitor and review machine prevention activities for quality, efficiency, effectiveness, and accuracy.Manage and assist maintenance Engineers with new project preparation and line shutdown activities.Identify, implement, and track Kaizen events.Understand maintenance cost drivers and promote cost effective solutions with the maintenance staffAssist Maintenance Manager and General Manager in developing short- and long-term maintenance plans, ensure completion by rank systemsUnderstand the knowledge, skills, and abilities of each maintenance engineer to select, train, and provide guidance and inspiration through leadership and teamwork to ensure empowered work teamsAssist Maintenance Manager in developing and executing major maintenance overhauls and outagesMonitor shop qualifications and quality standards for outside contractorsDirectly supervise Maintenance Engineering staff: Provide strong leadership to foster continuous improvement and open communicationEnsure proper tool availability to improve the maintenance engineer efficiencyMaintain and advise on the use and disposition of stock items and surplus itemsRequired Skills and AbilitiesEssential Skills and Experience:2 years of experience in an engineering role within in a manufacturing environmentEffective written and verbal communication skillsStrong data analysis skills and ability to solve problems, identify patterns and report relevant data to senior level managementKnowledge of mechanical and electrical maintenance processes, machine reliability, repair, and maintenanceDemonstrated trouble shooting/problem solving experience in an engineering roleFamiliar with CMMS or tracking systems/ strong computer skillsSkills maintaining and developing schedulesMust have strong communication and interpersonal skills, highly organized and ability to prioritizeMust have strong analytical skills with the ability to develop and implement layout, plans, and implementations of various projects.Education/Training/CertificationsBS, EngineeringTravel RequirementsApproximately 0 %Must be willing and available to travel to such locations and with such frequency as is necessary and desirable to meet business needs.Work Environment RequirementsWith reasonable accommodation:Must be able to operate a personal computer, telephone, and other office equipment.Must perform job duties onsite, when necessary, except those duties that are customarily or by their nature performed offsite (for example, offsite customer visits).Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.Must be able to work on multiple assignments at once, and complete assignments within deadline and budget (if applicable) with satisfactory quality.Must be able to operate as an effective team member.Must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all company safety policies.Attendance/Work Hour RequirementsMust maintain an acceptable attendance record.Must be willing and available to work weekends and holidays as necessary and desirable to meet business needs.
