Be a contributing member to the multidisciplinary health care team and must be able to communicate the needs of the patient/significant others to all disciplines involved in the patient's care.Pre-Op Assessment:-Conduct thorough pre-operative phone assessments for surgical patients, including medical history review, medication reconciliation, and risk factor identification.-Provide clear and detailed pre-operative instructions to patients, ensuring understanding of surgical preparation, including fasting, medication adjustments, and transportation needs.-Collaborate with anesthesiologists and surgeons to ensure all necessary pre-operative requirements are met.-Document all patient interactions and assessments in Meditech.Surgery Scheduling:-Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures in collaboration with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical teams.-Confirm surgical dates, times, and requirements with patients, ensuring all necessary pre-operative clearances are obtained.-Ensure that the surgical schedule is optimized for efficiency, minimizing delays and conflicts.-Communicate any changes in the schedule to all relevant parties, including patients, surgeons, and surgical teams.-Obtain Prior Authorization from patient insurances and provided that information to the appropriate system.Collaboration and Communication:-Work closely with the surgical services team to streamline patient flow and ensure all pre-operative requirements are met.-Serve as a point of contact for patients with questions or concerns about their upcoming surgery.-Assist with scheduling in other areas as needed, although this is not a primary responsibility.Provide backup staffing when needed for busy clinic.Minimum Requirements:Graduate from a licensed practical nursing program.Hold a valid license to practice Nursing in the State of Indiana.Previous experience is desired but training will be provided.CPR at first available opportunity at WHS.Computer experience helpful.Equal Opportunity Employer
