Job DescriptionOperates conventional, special purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers (3 Axis) to mill shapes or patterns into the material on aerospace/aircraft parts by performing the following dutiesWho are we?Founded in 1849, Ducommun is the oldest company in California. We specialize in electronic and structural systems, producing complex products and components for commercial aircraft platforms, mission-critical military and space programs, and sophisticated industrial applications.Our facility in Gardena, CA is a leading global supplier of large stretch formed aircraft skins, hot forming of titanium, superplastic forming and complex fastened and welded assemblies.Essential FunctionsSet up machines of 3 and 5 axis and fixtures to machine production parts with in standard time.Sets up all tools.Verifies part conformity using precision measuring equipment as required.Performs related bench work.Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machiningVerifies conformance of finished work piece to specificationsReads/follows shop order/planning instructions, maintains material traceability and performs written entries into shop orders as requiredRead drilling or routing operations set up to carry out the specified operationDetermines tools required to perform a variety of close tolerance drilling, tapping and milling operationsPull required fixtures, holding devices and materialsInsert tools in tool holders and installs per-set tools in machineAdjusts tool travel distances, may make program adjustments as requiredAbility to program as needed to support productionInputs required program instructionsMonitors machine operationsInspects machined parts to ensure job specifications are maintainedStock inventory and put tools away in proper placeEnsure machinery and area is kept clean and maintainedMay operate multiple machines.Skills & QualificationsPrevious CNC machine operation experience requiredPrevious Fanuc and Siemens control experience helpful.Has proficiency in basic shop math skills and understands machining practices in a variety of materialsAbility to read shop blueprintsMust apply common sense understanding and carry out instructions from written, verbal or diagram formAbility to use measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometersStrong mechanical aptitude desiredHigh school diploma or general degree (GED) education or equivalent5 years of experience in CNC Machining use of Fanuc and Siemens controls helpful.Math Skills – Must know shop math i.e. trigonometry, decimals, fractions.Basic Computer Skills – able to learn new screens, spreadsheet, reports, functions and simple software programs with assistanceBase Compensation: USD 20.00 - 25.00 Paid HourlyEqual Opportunity Employer Veterans/Disabled268 E.
