Patient Care Technician With a commitment to patient and family centered care, the patient care technician provides designated direct and indirect patient care activities under the direction and supervision of the licensed clinical team members in ways that value the uniqueness of each individual and addresses the physiological, emotional, and social needs of the diversity of patients served by Jefferson Health.Job duties include:Interacting with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.Recognizing the patients, their family/designated care partner(s) in providing safe, compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for patient's personal preferences, priorities, needs, and cultural beliefs and values.Communicating with and supporting the interprofessional team, patient, family and designated care partners.Performing designated direct and indirect patient care activities to meet patient care needs under direction of licensed clinical team members.Actively promoting and maintaining a safe patient care environment.May be assigned the role of a virtual safety associate as needed based on campus needs.Providing assistance in maintaining supplies and equipment available to ensure efficient unit operations.Minimum qualifications include:High school diploma/GED.Knowledge of medical terminology, patient care needs and their role in interprofessional team.Ability to complete delegated tasks within scope of role.Knowledge of personal care and hygiene necessary for quality of life, and ability to apply this knowledge to patients in need on a daily basis.Knowledge of the risks faced by patients in a healthcare environment, and the ability to take steps to reduce these risks.Knowledge of how to convey respect and collaborate with each patient, family and/or designated care partner in care.Knowledge of people with diverse backgrounds and the ability to convey respect and connect effectively.Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques, ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. Uses the language of partnership with patients and families, engaging them in their health and health care.BLS - Basic Life Support AHA - American Heart Association.Additional qualifications: One of the following is strongly preferred: PCT training program completion within 24 months of hire or nursing student with one semester clinical completed.Physical demands include lifting and carrying 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift.
