The Technical Instructor/Course Developer is primarily responsible for curriculum revision and maintenance. Technical curriculum may involve electronics, welding, or more highly technical areas such as radio and electronics repair or operation of weapons systems. This instructor uses a computer to organize and draft a curriculum that breaks a complex subject into blocks or units of instructionGeneral Duties:Revise and maintain technical curriculum across subject areas such as electronics, welding, radio/electronics repair, and weapons systems operationOrganize and develop course content by breaking complex topics into structured blocks or units of instructionCreate and integrate graphics and visual materials into curriculum using computer‑based toolsDevelop multiple course formats, including instructor‑led, computer‑based, simulator‑based, interactive, and non‑interactive trainingTeach short technical courses to maintain instructional proficiency and evaluate new teaching methodsIncorporate new curriculum content by developing clarifications, examples, and application‑based explanationsMaintain professional classroom techniques that support discipline, engagement, and effective learningDevelop alternative teaching strategies and scenarios to sustain student motivation and interestServe as testing officer, conducting test analysis and developing or revising test items as neededCollaborate with training teams to ensure curriculum accuracy, relevance, and alignment with instructional standardsRequirements:High School Diploma and US CitizenMust have and Active DoD Clearance Experience in technical instruction or curriculum development, preferably in areas such as electronics, welding, radio/electronics repair, or weapons systemsProficiency with computer‑based curriculum development tools, including the ability to create graphics and structured instructional materialsStrong understanding of instructional design principles, including breaking down complex subjects into teachable unitsAbility to teach in multiple formats, including instructor‑led, computer‑based, and simulator‑based environmentsKnowledge of assessment development, including test item creation, analysis, and revisionStrong communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearlyAbility to maintain a professional, disciplined, and engaging classroom environmentCreative problem‑solving skills for developing alternative teaching methods and scenariosAttention to detail and commitment to curriculum accuracy and instructional qualityWhat Your Experience Working For Us Will Be LikeAsk any of our employees and they will tell you SSI is a great place to work with an upbeat and positive culture.
