As many of our team members have been with LINK for a generation or more, the LINK team is equipped with a wealth of knowledge, providing decades of hands-on experience and out-of-the-box thinking to OEMs and suppliers everywhere.We are looking for a talented Software Controls Engineer who is responsible for designing, implementing and supporting computer-based data acquisition and control systems for precision test equipment, also the inter-networked control of such equipment. The Software Controls Engineer is involved in all phases of product life-cycle, from customer specifications and reviews to implementation and testing to training.An ideal candidate will possess passion and enthusiasm for learning and problem solving. They will have the opportunity to be mentored or trained by senior level engineers and software architects to grow and enhance their overall expertise. The Software Controls Engineer will also be expected to train and mentor less experienced engineers.Main Responsibilities:Software development using multiple environments; C, Delphi, Visual Studio .NETReview technical specifications for conformance and exceptionsWork with the engineering team and customers to develop practical controls concepts in the absence of detailed equipment or testing specificationsOffer creative and suitable solutions to design challenges or flawsDefine test plans and perform validation testing to confirm system and functional requirements are metWork with our test laboratories to enhance the capabilities of LINK Test Equipment and support the latest industry procedures and standards, as well as new R&D opportunitiesAssist LINK Service Technicians and customers with technical issuesQualifications:Bachelors degree or certificate in related disciplineUnderstanding of hardware and software designsExperience with embedded systems or software-based controlsFamiliarity with CAN and Ethernet communication protocolsSolid understanding of mechanical systems and undergraduate level physicsKnowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to read and understand electrical control prints and hydraulic/pneumatic diagramsInterpersonal skills for working on a team and with customersStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsAbility to listen to, understand and communicate information both verbally and writtenAvailable for occasional travel, both domestic and internationalPhysical Requirements: This position is located in an office and involves sedentary work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
