This role is ideal for a leader who thrives in a fast-paced, design-forward environment and takes pride in maintaining both the visible and behind-the-scenes elements that shape the guest experience.You’ll partner closely with the Director of Engineering to ensure the property operates seamlessly balancing technical expertise, team leadership, and a strong sense of ownership. This person must be knowledgeable in HVAC, Refrigeration, and Electrical Engineeri ng.QualificationsKey Responsibilities:Support the daily operations of the Engineering department across guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areasLead, coach, and collaborate with union engineering colleagues in accordance with collective bargaining agreementsMaintain the aesthetic and functional integrity of a design-forward lifestyle hotelDrive preventive maintenance programs to ensure reliability and minimize downtimeEnsure compliance with NYC codes and regulations (FDNY, DOB, Local Laws) and Hyatt safety standardsRespond to guest and operational needs with urgency, professionalism, and a service-minded approachAssist in managing budgets, capital improvements, and vendor/contractor relationshipsUphold a culture of accountability, teamwork, and respect aligned with Hyatt valuesAct as Director of Engineering in their absenceQualifications:3–5+ years of engineering leadership experience, preferably in a full-service or lifestyle hotelExperience working in a union environment strongly preferredStrong technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systemsFamiliarity with New York City codes and compliance requirementsA proactive, hands-on leadership style with strong team engagement skillsAbility to balance operational demands with a high standard of design and guest experienceStrong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilitiesFlexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidaysOther duties as assignedPreferred Certifications:NYC Fire Safety Director (FSD) certificationEPA CertificationTrade licenses or additional technical certifications are a plus.Salary Range: $90,000 - $95,000 AnnuallyHyatt is an equal employment opportunity and affirmative action employer.
