Technical Project ManagerLocation: Austin, TX – OnsiteDuration: Approximately 6 monthsEmployment Type: ContractPosition OverviewOur client, a growing technology organization, is seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager / PMO Consultant to bring structure, visibility, and consistency to multiple technology initiatives across the organization.The consultant will provide dedicated project management and PMO support across concurrent initiatives, helping establish repeatable processes for project tracking, status reporting, request intake, prioritization, and stakeholder communication.The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced technology environment. This individual should be able to work effectively across technical and business teams while bringing strong project governance, accountability, and communication practices to the organization.Key ResponsibilitiesManage and coordinate multiple technology initiatives from intake through completion.Establish and implement standardized PMO processes, tools, and workflows to improve organization, visibility, and accountability.Develop and maintain comprehensive trackers for projects, initiatives, requests, milestones, dependencies, risks, and action items.Create standardized status reports, dashboards, and executive-level updates for leadership and key stakeholders.Establish a structured intake and tracking process for business and technology requests.Ensure requests are documented with appropriate business context, priority, ownership, dependencies, and expected outcomes.Partner closely with Business Analysts, developers, QA teams, business stakeholders, and leadership to keep initiatives on track.Facilitate project meetings, status meetings, and working sessions and ensure timely follow-up on action items and decisions.Identify project risks, blockers, dependencies, and resource constraints and escalate issues as appropriate.Assist with prioritization of competing initiatives and requests based on business needs and organizational priorities.Drive consistency and accountability in project execution, reporting, and stakeholder communication.Help transition teams from reactive, ad hoc support toward a more structured and sustainable delivery model.Document PMO processes, standards, workflows, and best practices to support long-term sustainability.Support organizational growth and knowledge transfer as additional resources are added and responsibilities transition back to the internal team.Required Qualifications4+ years of experience in Project Management, PMO, Technical Project Management, Business Analysis, or a related discipline.Demonstrated experience managing multiple technology initiatives or projects simultaneously.Strong understanding of project management methodologies, processes, governance, and best practices.Proven experience developing project trackers, status reports, dashboards, and other PMO deliverables.Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills.Experience working closely with software development and QA teams.Ability to understand technical initiatives and translate technical activity into clear, business-level status updates.Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.Experience with project management, Agile, or collaboration platforms such as Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.Preferred QualificationsExperience working within a technology PMO or software delivery organization.Experience establishing, implementing, or improving PMO processes from the ground up.Experience working in Agile and/or hybrid development environments.Understanding of SDLC, software development, QA, testing, and release processes.Experience managing business and technology request-intake processes.Experience working in environments with multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, and rapidly changing requirements.Demonstrated ability to bring structure and process to organizations with evolving project management practices.
