Hot Mill PS Crane Operator

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:This position of Crane operator is responsible for all operating function as listed below.Operation of the Crane unit must be understood in total with the focus of utilizing the equipmentto meet all the quality and productivity goals as outlined in our quality system. All workinstructions must be followed as outlined.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Listed below are the primary activities which must be learned, understood and followedaccording to work instructions. The process engineer/supervisor, Group Leader and ShiftLeaders will monitor each person and provide any necessary instruction or direction as necessaryduring the training period. Make sure all Crane parts are in working order and set points are correct per workinstructions. If necessary make proper adjustments. Operation the vacuum crane to remove plate from the line and any other crane operationin the plate shop. Packages all the material ran thru the line assisted by Temporary Personnel (whenmaterial permits). Have basic knowledge about the functions of the pickling line. Visually inspect of the plate as it is getting moved over to the packaging area to ensureproper chemical pickling has occurred. The crane operator must know the possibledefects during the pickling and shear process. Check plate measurements (width, length, thickness) on each plate received frompickling and shear line in coordination with the shear operator. Obtain each plate spanision weight ran thru the line. Verify stencil ID number on each plate provided from previous line. Attach plate's barcode tag on each plate spanision ran thru the line. Log comments on plate tracking sheet about the material that has been processed. Operator must be able to run the shear to receive top pay level of (4). Crane operator must inspect black plates when necessary. Follow all prescribed safety rules. Housekeeping/ Maintenance works as assigned. Any other tasks assigned to you by your Turn Lead, Group Lead or Supervisor.SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Other duties as assigned Participation in relevant continuous improvement programs.MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Minimum requirements of a High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), basic computer skillsand strong communication skills.PHYSICAL ABILITIES REQUIRED:Mobility in plantWhile performing the duties of (this job), the employee is regularly required to sit, stand,walk, etc.The employee is frequently required to make use of their hands for technical tasksThe employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 poundsVisual ability with or without correctionCommunication abilitiesHEALTH AND SAFETY: Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations Follow Company safety rules Report the absence of or defect in any protective equipment or clothing to the Supervisoror Manager immediately Use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that is required to be used orworn: Safety shoes Safety glasses Hearing protection Hard HatSome areas may require additional personal protective equipment such as: Respirators; the respirator requires you to be clean shaven in order to comply withcompany policies and procedures as well as OSHA Regulations.
