Laboratory Manager (Concrete & Materials Testing)

Trumbull-Brayman Joint Venture Montgomery Lock & Dam Project - Monaca, PennsylvaniaTrumbull Corporation is seeking a qualified Laboratory Manager to oversee onsite concrete and materials testing operations to support the Montgomery Lock & Dam Project in Monaca, Pennsylvania, a major U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) infrastructure project located on the Ohio River navigation system with an estimated 8-year duration.This is a long-term, full-time position that plays a critical role in supporting the project's quality control program by managing all laboratory operations associated with concrete production, aggregate testing, concrete cylinder curing, and compressive strength testing.Schedule & CompensationThe typical work schedule is Monday through Friday - approximately 40 hours per week, with additional overtime available based on project needs.Compensation includes:Competitive Salary with annual performance bonusMedical Insurance / Prescription Drug PlanDental Insurance and Vision Insurance401k Pension Plan with company match and profit sharingShort and Long-Term Disability InsurancePaid vacation and holidaysKey ResponsibilitiesResponsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the onsite quality control laboratory utilized to support batch plant production and project material compliance. This role manages laboratory personnel, testing procedures, documentation, equipment calibration, and coordination with project quality control, production, and field operations teams.Responsibilities include:Manage daily operations of the onsite concrete and materials testing laboratoryOversee quality control testing associated with concrete production and placementSupervise concrete cylinder casting, curing, handling, and compressive strength testingDirect aggregate sample preparation and testing activitiesMaintain laboratory quality systems, testing logs, certifications, and reporting documentationCoordinate testing schedules with batch plant operations, field crews, inspectors, and project managementManage laboratory equipment maintenance, calibration, and certification recordsReview and validate laboratory test results and quality control reportsTrain, mentor, and supervise laboratory and field testing personnelSupport project audits, inspections, and quality investigationsPromote and enforce safety standards and best practices within laboratory operationsQualifications & Education:Minimum 5+ years of experience in concrete, aggregate, or construction materials laboratory testingPrior supervisory or laboratory management experience preferredExperience supporting large civil, infrastructure, dam, lock, marine, bridge, or DOT projects preferredACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade IACI Concrete Strength Testing TechnicianACI Aggregate Testing Technician - Level 1ACI Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician - Level 1ACI Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician - Level 2Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environmentProficiency with testing documentation and reporting systemsValid driver's license requiredSafetyThis is a Safety Sensitive Position requiring work on project sites, including federal projects with various safety hazards which are potentially life-threatening to the employee. This position may require working at heights, in confined spaces, around heavy equipment, around high voltage, and under constantly changing circumstances.
