Production Manager

About the CompanyWe are seeking a hands-on Molding Department Lead to lead and grow our relatively new molding operations. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys developing processes from the ground up, and is excited to build and mentor a team rather than follow rigid, pre-established routines. You will wear multiple hats, contribute directly to organizational impact, and help shape a high-performing molding and assembly function in a dynamic manufacturing environment.About the RoleThe ideal candidate has solid manufacturing experience (injection molding preferred but not required—strong candidates open to training will be considered), a track record in medium-to-smaller companies, and a proactive, quality-first mindset. This is a leadership role with both operational and people-management responsibilities.ResponsibilitiesOperate and run injection molding equipment as needed to support production demands.Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to set up, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment and processes.Perform press-side assembly and related tasks to ensure smooth workflow.Review and close out work orders for molding and molding-adjacent activities within the MRP system.Coordinate production build schedules with the Scheduling Team and Plant Manager to meet delivery commitments.Operate additional manufacturing equipment as required (e.g., clicker presses, automatic cutting machines, labeling machines, etc.).Build, lead, and mentor a growing team of machine operators and/or assembly personnel.Set clear operational expectations for the team (e.g., punctuality, pace, professionalism, and positive collaboration).Approve team members' time sheets and manage day-to-day attendance/performance matters.Conduct regular 1:1 meetings, quarterly check-ins, and annual performance reviews with direct reports.Train and guide team members to achieve independent, high-quality performance on the manufacturing floor.Maintain a quality-first culture; keep the team focused and on-task, providing real-time course correction and support as needed.Contribute to process development and continuous improvement in a fast-evolving department.Embrace flexibility—jump in wherever needed to drive results and make a tangible impact.QualificationsRequired: Proven manufacturing experience in a production environment.Preferred: Hands-on experience with injection molding processes and equipment (candidates eager to learn and train will be strongly considered).Demonstrated comfort with ambiguity and process creation rather than strictly following detailed, existing instructions.Leadership experience or readiness to build and lead a team (operators and assembly staff).Track record in medium-sized companies, with recent experience in smaller, more agile organizations preferred.Enjoy wearing multiple hats and contributing broadly to organizational success.Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on mentoring, accountability, and fostering a positive team environment.Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems (experience with Fishbowl a plus).Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.Equal Opportunity StatementWe are committed to diversity and inclusivity in our hiring practices.
