Automation Engineer

Night shift - 2 different shiftsCandidates whose compensation expectations fall slightly above the posted range are still encouraged to apply, as compensation can be discussed based on overall experience and fit.IntePros is currently looking for an Automation Engineer to join one of our growing medical device/manufacturing clients in Grand Rapids, MI. The Automation Engineer will be responsible for maintaining operation efficiency of automated assembly lines. Provide support to shift operations as needed. Develop long-term predictive/preventative maintenance plans for all assembly equipment.Automation Engineer ResponsibilitiesEvaluate and maintain proper machine safeties to ensure employees are protected when operating any piece of automation.Maintain quality finished product through proper maintenance and operation of all automation.Work closely with the Engineers on process and programing issues.Program, Troubleshoot and repair of all automation.Assists Maintenance in troubleshooting and repairing other equipment.Coordinate and Perform end of arm repairs and fabrication.Evaluates and maintains accurate documentation of automation repairs and adjustments.Maintain an inventory of automation spare parts with proper cataloging to minimize down time.Establish and maintain an escalation plan to minimize downtime.Improve line efficiencies using line history and production data.Provide timely notification to shift leaders and program managers of maintenance and down time issues.Interfaces daily with engineering manager and shift support staff.Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.Performs other duties as assigned by management.Exhibits regular, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance.Automation includes – assembly machines/fixtures, label applicators, robots, end of arms, separators and test equipment. Any other equipment assigned by management. EducationEducation or Equivalent Experience: 4-year technical degree. Automation Engineer Work Experience1 - 3 years of experience in related industry. Automation Engineer Preferred Knowledge And SkillsExperience in medical device industry or other regulated industry.Background with medical/pharmaceutical clinical trials would be a plus.Knowledge of quality systems requirements, FDA Quality System Regulation, cGMP and ISO 9002. License And CertificationsManufacturing\Lean Six Sigma Certification-IASSC Six Sigma certification Upon Hire preferredPhysical RequirementsLight-Exerting up to 20lbs/9kg of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force frequently constantly to move objects.Additional RequirementsAble to comprehend mechanical drawings, computer systems and manufacturing processes.
