Maintenance/Facilities Technician I

Maintenance Technician IThe Maintenance Technician I is responsible for performing maintenance and repair activities on production and facility equipment and systems. This position will also assist with EH&S activities to maintain compliance. BD is looking for a high-energy, organized individual with the desire to be mentored and grow with this position. This individual should have a history of working in mechanically focused roles and have a passion for helping others.Responsibilities:Perform preventative maintenance on various pieces of equipment per schedule and document all preventative maintenance.Provide building and clean room (Class 10,000) maintenance Communicate and arrange with vendors to provide maintenance services of equipment, building, HVAC, lighting, etc.Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.Troubleshoots processes and equipment; develop and implement corrective action.Completes detailed repair reports for production equipment.Supports and assists in the development of continuous improvement programs and participates in the implementation of these programs throughout the facility as requiredControls downtime by informing management and production workers of routine preventive maintenance activities.Uses power tools to fabricate or alter or adjust parts or components.The ability to work overtime as neededOther duties as assigned.Qualifications:High School Diploma or Associates Degree required with 1-3 years of experience in mechanical repair and maintenance of complex manufacturing equipment.Forklift certification with a minimum of one (1) year of experience utilizing equipment to move heavy objects and materials (Pallet Jack, dollies, etc...) preferredBasic knowledge of applicable GMP and ISO regulations and Federal and State Environmental and Occupational Safety and Health Regulations (e.g., EPA, OSHA, MassDEP)Strong Mechanical aptitude requiredBasic knowledge of complex equipment using PLC controlsBasic Knowledge of HVAC systems as applied to cleanroomsKnowledge of environmental controlsEffective verbal and written communication skillsThorough understanding of MS officeAt BD, we prioritize on-site collaboration because we believe it fosters creativity, innovation, and effective problem-solving, which are essential in the fast-paced healthcare industry.
