PRN Child AdvocateIsabel's House - Crisis Nursery of the Ozarks, Inc.Location: Springfield, MO Position Type: Non-Exempt | PRN (as needed)Schedule: The PRN Child Advocate position offers a flexible schedule for an as needed position providing 24/7 care at Isabel's House. These shifts can be full or partial shifts. You will not have set hours each month but will be able to pick up shifts as needed. All PRNs are responsible for working 16 hours a month to maintain their PRN position.Hours: 5:45 am - 2:15 pm | Weekends: 5:45-2:15 PM & 1:45 - 10:15 PMIsabel's House is seeking compassionate, trauma-informed, responsible individuals to join our team as PRN Child Advocates. In this role, you'll provide daily care and supervision to children in crisis, helping create a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment during some of the most challenging moments in their lives.What You'll DoAs a Child Advocate, you will:Provide a safe, healthy, and non-judgmental environment for children and familiesSupervise and engage children in age-appropriate, therapeutic, and educational activitiesSupport children with homework, play, and daily routinesImplement developmentally appropriate practices and therapeutic curriculumFollow agency policies, licensing regulations, and approved behavior guidance techniquesMaintain required child-to-staff ratios at all timesAccurately complete documentation and daily logsAssist with household responsibilities, including cleaning, laundry, and organizationCommunicate safety concerns or policy issues immediately to supervisorsWork collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and community partnersRequired QualificationsWhat We're Looking ForAt least 21 years of ageHigh school diploma or GEDAbility to pass all required pre-employment screenings (background checks, drug test, TB screening, references)Valid Missouri driver's license, acceptable driving record, and proof of insuranceAbility to lift up to 50 poundsPreferred QualificationsOne year of experience working with children in a childcare or residential settingStrong communication, judgment, and problem-solving skillsAbility to remain calm, flexible, and professional in a fast-paced environmentSkills That Make You SuccessfulCompassionate and mature approach to working with children and familiesTeam-oriented mindset with strong communication skillsAbility to multitask and adapt under pressureCreativity, initiative, and a commitment to child developmentRespect for confidentiality at all timesPractice proactive, not reactive responsesWork Schedule & ConditionsMust work a minimum of 16 hours a monthCover staffing gaps during shiftsDaily contact with children in a residential care settingWhy Isabel's House?At Isabel's House, we believe every child deserves safety, care, and dignity-especially during times of crisis.
