OverviewThis is a "Supervisor in Training" position intended as an interim role. Employee will be responsible for supporting production activities across multiple departments (furnace, casting/refining, breaker, etc). Employee will be expected to complete Production Supervisor training (on demand) and classroom training (some overnight travel may be required). Employee will rotate to assist all Departments and Supervisors with processes, operations, timekeeping, disciplinary process, and related matters. Position will report to the Operations Manager, with additional direction and training provided by the Plant Manager and Area Managers.ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.Complete training focused on, but not limited to:Peer to Boss TransitioningEmotional IntelligenceElement Policy & ProcedureEnvironmental OperationsHealth & Safety OperationsWaste Water TreatmentLead Production OperationsLead Refining OperationsSlag ProcessingBattery Break OperationsLandfill OperationsBaghouse OperationsWill provide leadership in All Departments and coverage on nights and weekendsWill direct work for employeesLead by example, adhering to and enforcing all safety standardsCounsel and complete necessary documentation for training or corrective actions and violations of Plant RulesSchedule and conduct Toolbox Meetings with hourly employees dailyComplete shift paperwork daily, to include Safety, Quality, and Productivity as well as work area logsEnsure that hourly employees follow Standardized Work and Standard Operating ProceduresAccountable for all department equipment, including mobile equipmentEnsure that daily checks are completed and documentedQualificationsThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities necessary to perform this job.RequiredEDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS:Current experience in manufacturingAble to read, write, and speak English.PreferredHigh school diplomaExperience working in a union manufacturing plantPrevious leadership experienceSix Sigma or Lean training and/or certification.Knowledge and experience of problem-solving and quality improvement methodologies.UKG or other timekeeping systemsHeavy equipment experience.Required:COMPETENCIES, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:Mathematical and analytical skills.Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.Outstanding organization/administrative and time management skills.Ability to work on multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to apply concepts that are learned from training (classroom and on the job)Preferred:Working knowledge of Microsoft applications.Critical thinking and good troubleshooting technique.High energy, self-motivation, and ability to be successful without direct supervision.Other Categories As Required:The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
