This role supports critical scientific and engineering programs by producing high-quality mechanical designs, 3D models, and detailed drawings in accordance with established engineering standards, quality assurance requirements, and project schedules.The Designer works collaboratively with Fermilab engineering staff to develop, analyze, and document design solutions for accelerator and superconducting technology projects.Responsibilities and DutiesPrepare mechanical designs and engineering drawings using NX1980 CAD and TeamcenterApply ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards (1994 or later) accurately and consistentlyDevelop advanced-level 3D models, layouts, and 2D fabrication drawingsPerform design tolerance and stack-up calculationsSupport multiple APS-TD projects, including accelerator systems, superconducting technologies, and related infrastructureCollaborate directly with engineers to research design concepts, coordinate design development, and resolve technical issuesSpecify and select mechanical components and materials appropriate to the project requirementsFollow Fermilab Design/Drafting procedures, quality manuals, and project schedulesDeliver high-quality work products in deadline-driven environmentsIncorporate review comments and revisions as directed by Fermilab technical staffDeliverablesNX1980 3D models and 2D drawingsLayout designs and detailed component drawingsDesign tolerance and stack-up analysesDesign files managed and controlled in TeamcenterDeliverable quantities and priorities will be task-directedNice to HaveExperience supporting scientific, laboratory, or DOE-related facilitiesFamiliarity with accelerator, superconducting, or high-precision mechanical systemsPrior experience working in regulated engineering environmentsWhy Work at COMPA Industries?COMPA Industries has supported Department of Energy missions for over 30 years, providing engineering, technical, and professional services across national laboratories and critical infrastructure programs.
