Advanced FPGA Engineer

Our DoD/Aerospace client is looking to fill an Advanced FPGA Engineer position that just opened in Bloomington, MN. In this role, you will be responsible for the definition, design, verification, simulation, and documentation of FPGA and ASIC developments supporting mission-critical aerospace and defense systems. You will contribute to architecture development, device design, synthesis, place and route, timing analysis, test planning, and performance verification throughout the FPGA development lifecycle. To be considered, you will have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM field plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, OR a Master’s degree plus 3 years of relevant experience.Location: Bloomington, MNPosition: Advanced FPGA EngineerContract: 12–24 Months or LongerPay: $81.92/hourShift: 1st ShiftResponsibilities:Define, design, verify, and document FPGA and ASIC solutionsDevelop system architectures and detailed design approachesDefine module interfaces and all aspects of device design and simulationPerform synthesis, place and route, timing analysis, and power optimization activitiesCreate and execute simulation and test plans to validate functionality and performanceAnalyze and verify test results and recommend design improvementsSupport technical engineering product development using established standards, processes, and toolsResearch customer requirements, specifications, and technical data to determine design feasibilitySelect components and equipment based on reliability and performance requirementsParticipate in continuous improvement of FPGA engineering processesCollaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and project stakeholdersSupport major aerospace and defense development programsRequired Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related STEM discipline plus 5+ years of relevant experience; OR Master’s degree plus 3+ years of relevant experienceAbility to obtain a DoD Secret Security ClearanceU.S. Citizenship requiredExperience with FPGA and/or ASIC design, development, verification, and documentationExperience with architecture definition, simulation, synthesis, place and route, timing analysis, and power utilizationAbility to develop test plans, simulation plans, and performance verification proceduresExperience selecting components and equipment based on technical specifications and reliability requirementsStrong understanding of FPGA development lifecycle processes and engineering standardsProficiency with FPGA/ASIC design and simulation toolsStrong written and verbal communication skillsPreferred Qualifications:Experience leading FPGA development efforts and mentoring junior engineersAbility to analyze customer specifications and determine design feasibilityExperience reviewing vendor capabilities, foundry technologies, device libraries, and simulation toolsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced engineering environmentExperience working in aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated industriesWork Environment:100% OnsiteBloomington, MinnesotaFlexible and collaborative engineering environment supporting advanced defense technologiesSecurity Requirements:Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret Security ClearanceU.S. Citizenship required due to the nature of the work performed About our client: Our client is a mission critical DOD – Aerospace defense contractor developing solutions that will lead, serve, and protect our country.  Our client develops strategic systems for defense, civil government, intelligence and cyber end users on a international basis.About APR: Since 1980 APR Consulting, Inc. has provided professional recruiting and contingent workforce solutions to a diverse mix of clients, industries, and skill sets nationwide.
