5th Grade Teacher

5th Grade Teacher Directly Responsible to: Building PrincipalsPosition Summary: The scope of this responsibility shall include, but not be limited to, classroom instruction, curriculum development & delivery, district-wide teamwork and community relations. The 5th Grade Teacher must be able to exercise a high degree of initiative and professional judgment in accomplishing the aims of the district's education program, and carrying out the policies adopted by the Board of Trustees and the directives issued by the Building Principal. The Teacher is responsible for the development of academic improvement of students that will meet the goals of School District #9.Desired Minimum Qualifications:Valid Montana Teaching CertificateDemonstrates an understanding of child and adolescent developmental and cultural issues.Ability to relate to and work with children.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, parents, staff, and the community.Ability to handle stressful situations.Ability to work cooperatively as a team member with staff and administration.Ability to maintain confidentiality of employment and student matters.Ability to effectively manage time and responsibilities.Essential Functions & Duties:Plans and develops course of study suitable for Title I students for curriculum delivery that meets all state and federal requirements.Attends and participates in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings, IEP meetings, and other meetings as required.Teaches skills, knowledge, and positive attitudes utilizing appropriate learning activities, assignments and projects.Instructs individuals and groups in academic skill areas.Maintains regular contact with parents.Prepares assignments and tests for in-school preparation and homework as appropriate.Evaluates each pupil's growth in knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviors in reference to what is being taught, and corrects and grades student progress based on work output, observations, individual goals, objectives, and directions.Compiles data from report cards, educational records, IEP forms, classroom observation records, and other district data forms.Consults with other professionals and teaching staff regarding progress of students and related educational matters.Monitors, assists, corrects, and grades student performances collaboratively with classroom teachers.Maintains order individually or collaboratively with classroom teachers.Only minimum duties are listed.
