The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Ensure that all Hanwha Philly Shipyard safety procedures, rules and regulations are followed and metContact vendors to verify that the shipment of goods will be made on required dateCommunicate and coordinate with forwarding companies, customs brokers, and transportation companies to ensure movement of material and supplies and prevent delays in transitMake sure goods are well insured throughout the shipmentCommunicate, coordinate and keep records of Customs clearance of imported goodsArrange and coordinate for receipt and distribution of materials upon arrival with Material ControlAssist with data entry of material receipts and transfers into the ERP systemIn-house Information Technology supportCreate/implement functional forms/documentsCoordinate all outbound shipmentsDevelop weekly/biweekly project status reports and provide findings on late shipment and expedite the processDevelop and maintain positive relationships with key players in Hanwha Philly Shipyard's Supply Chain process to ensure goals are metHelp Material Control to resolve vendor discrepancy in shipmentCollect Missing report after inspection and take up with vendorCan work with other buyers and take purchasing activity when neededComplete all assignments as requiredPerform other related duties as required and assignedCOMPETENCIESAble to communication effectively with all levels of the organizationDecision making/problem solvingAdaptability and organizational skills and understandingIntegrityConflict resolutionStrategic thinkingStress managementLeadership qualitiesPersistent natureWillingness and ability to work as a team member with leadershipSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTYThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEBachelor's Degree in Business/Communication preferredMinimum of five (5) years' experience in material control or logistics, including expeditingProficient in Microsoft software applications such as Word, ExcelFamiliar with Access, Power PointFamiliar with SAP a plusKnowledge of US Customs process for importing materials a plusKnowledge of Supply Chain and Logistics processes requiredAbility to communicate to suppliers the urgency of just-in-time deliveries to the shipyardAbility for good record-keepingAbility to conduct meetings between PSI personnel and supplierWORK ENVIRONMENTEnvironmental exposures are similar to those found in most heavy industrial settings and may include noise, heat, cold, vibration, dust, fumes and smoke.
