Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.Essential Duties:HVAC Specialist IIInspects completed jobs for quality control. Monitors contracts for goods and services. Repairs or replaces defective HVAC equipment, components, or wiring. Discusses heating or cooling system malfunctions with users to isolate problems or to verify that repairs corrected malfunctionsRepairs or services heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to improve efficiency, such as by changing filters, cleaning ducts, or refilling non-toxic refrigerantsAdjusts system controls to settings recommended by manufacturer to balance system. Recommends, develops, or performs preventive or general maintenance procedures, such as cleaning, power-washing, or vacuuming equipment, oiling parts, or changing filters. Assembles, positions, and mounts heating or cooling equipment, following blueprints or manufacturer's specifications. Observes and tests system operation, using gauges and instruments. Performs mechanical overhauls and refrigerant reclaiming. Schedules work with customers and initiate work orders, house requisitions, and orders from stock. Estimates, orders, pick-ups, delivers, and installs materials and supplies needed to maintain equipment in good working condition. Reads blueprints to determine location, size, capacity, and type of components needed to build refrigeration system. Prepares and maintains logs, reports, or other documentation of work performed. Trains other mechanics in building trades. Enters work order information and tracks projects in the Automated Software System and orders materials and equipment. Performs general building maintenance and repairs. Performs periodic preventive maintenance on heating, ventilating, air conditioning, electrical and/or plumbing systems. Performs weekly walk-through of buildings to inspect operation of utility systems and related equipment. Plans and coordinates to determine best methods and materials for fabrication, maintenance, repair and finishing projects, including services provided by outside vendors. Provides estimates of time and materials needed for each assignment. Repairs HVAC electrical control systems. Repairs HVAC pneumatic control systems. Tests HVAC electrical circuits or components, using electrical test equipment. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. May serve as a lead worker by serving as a resource for complex questions; presenting workflow and operational updates to the supervisor/manager; providing input on team members' career conversations; and approving leave requests to ensure operations coverage. Repairs or replaces defective HVAC Chiller equipment. Repairs or replaces defective boilers of various sizes. Calibrates and replaces controls. Maintains, repairs and services air conditioning/heating units and ventilation systems. Oversees a preventive maintenance program. Provides estimates of time and materials needed for each assignment. Tests electrical circuits or components, using electrical test equipment. Prepares and maintains logs, reports, or other documentation of work performed. Minimum Qualifications:HVAC Specialist IIEducation: High School Grad or Equivalent in in general high school studies.Experience: 2 years of experience in installation, maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent). Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.
