Position Type: Non-Certified Staff/Support Staff/Media Center Assistant Date Posted: 5/7/2026 Location: Wadena-Deer Creek Elementary School Date Available: Fall 2026 Closing Date: 08/15/2026 District: Wadena-Deer Creek SD 2155 Library Paraprofessional Position Purpose Under the direct supervision of a certified staff member, to assist the school librarian and certified professional staff in the media center to enable students to effectively use the instructional materials in the center. Essential Job FunctionsAssist students and staff in circulation of library materials, use of online catalog and use of online resources.Assist students and staff in locating materials.Assist in reinforcement in reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, media and other skills.Clerical duties to assist in maintaining the circulation desk operations such as check in and check out procedures, shelving, straightening and processing of library materials, creating and distributing overdue notices.Operate and troubleshoot computer and audio visual equipment as needed. Work closely with IT.Construct, copy, distribute and use educational materials. Additional DutiesAttend meetings, trainings and workshops as directed.Book repair.Assist with library showcase.Assist with supervision of students in the media center and other areas as assigned. EquipmentAssist in the utilization and maintenance of instructional and non-instructional equipment.Use standard office equipment, such as laminator, Macbooks, iPads and copiers.Learn library management software.Assist with student and staff devices. Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and perform complex arithmetic operations.Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others.Ability to follow directives of media specialist and assist students with respect to instructional and non-instructional tasks.Ability to work efficently and without direct supervision.Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work. Qualifications ProfileAny combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:High School diploma or equivalent.Successful completion of college level coursework or passing of examination as required by the No Child Left Behind Act.Prior experience working with children desirable.
