Process Documentation & Improvement Specialist
Department: Operational ExcellenceLocation: Carrollton, GA (On‑Site)Reports To: Director of Business OperationsRole OverviewThe Process Documentation & Improvement Specialist plays a critical role in helping Mullins Mechanical scale effectively by defining, documenting, and continuously improving how work gets done.This individual will work alongside leaders and teams across all departments—from Operations and Project Controls to Accounting, HR, IT, and Safety—to map current‑state processes, design improved future‑state workflows, and create clear, consistent documentation that teams can actually use.This is a hands‑on, high‑ownership role ideal for someone who is eager to learn the business from the inside out, take responsibility for meaningful work, and build a strong foundation in process improvement, change management, and cross‑functional collaboration.Key ResponsibilitiesProcess Mapping & ImprovementPartner with department leaders and subject matter experts to identify, map, and understand current‑state processesFacilitate working sessions to identify gaps, inefficiencies, handoff issues, and opportunities for improvementDesign and document future‑state processes that are practical, scalable, and aligned with business goalsContinuously refine process standards as systems, tools, and business needs evolveDocumentation Standards & SOP DevelopmentOwn and maintain process mapping standards, SOP templates, and documentation guidelinesDevelop clear, concise, and standardized documentation (SOPs, workflows, playbooks, job aids)Ensure all process documentation follows consistent structure, terminology, and formattingPartner with teams to keep documentation current and relevant—not “shelfware”Change Management & Rollout SupportDevelop change management and rollout playbooks to support new or updated processesHelp teams understand the why behind process changes and how those changes affect day‑to‑day workSupport communication, training materials, and reinforcement plans to drive adoptionTraining & Department Champion EnablementTrain and support department process champions on documentation standards and best practicesHelp teams learn how to maintain their own process documentation over timeCreate simple training materials and guides to support onboarding and continuous learningCross‑Functional CollaborationWork closely with Operational Excellence, IT, HR, Construction, Accounting, Preconstruction, etc.Be willing to learn unfamiliar functions and systems quicklyServe as a connector—helping teams see how their processes impact downstream departmentsWhat We’re Looking ForExperience & Skills2–6 years of experience in process improvement, business operations, project coordination, documentation, or a related roleExperience creating SOPs, process maps, or training documentationStrong written communication skills with an ability to explain complex processes clearlyComfortable facilitating conversations with a range of stakeholders—from field leaders to executivesStrong organizational skills and attention to detailMindset & Working StyleHigh ownership mindset—you see a problem and take initiative to solve itComfortable working in ambiguity and figuring things out as you goCurious by nature and always looking for better, more efficient ways to workNot afraid to ask questions, challenge assumptions, or dig into the detailsAble to balance strategic thinking with hands‑on executionBonus (Not Required)Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement conceptsExperience with tools like Lucidchart or similarFamiliarity with SharePoint, knowledge management systems, or LMS platformsConstruction, engineering, or industrial services experienceWhy This Role MattersThis role directly impacts how efficiently our company operates.
