Senior Microservices Developer
Overview
In this role you will build and evolve the microservices behind TEGNA's Content Management platform. You will shape and implement Azure-based, C#/.NET Function Apps with an event-driven backbone, supporting scalable content ingestion, management, and delivery. You will lead design, set quality standards, and mentor engineers while collaborating with CMS and Cloud architects. You will modernize legacy systems into maintainable, event-driven services and drive high-impact solutions in an Agile context.

ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, and operate C#/.NET microservices as Azure Function Apps powering content workflowsOwn event-driven service design using Azure Service Bus (model messages, idempotency, ordering, retries, failure handling)Lead technical design for meaningful features and services; set code quality, testing, and observability standardsMentor mid-level and offshore developers to raise team technical maturityConvert epics into actionable, well-architected stories with the team leadModernize legacy content systems into scalable, maintainable servicesPartner with CMS Solutions Architect and Cloud Architect on infrastructure realizationWork in an Agile/Scrum environment with disciplined source control
Key requirements5+ years of professional software engineering experience building production backend servicesStrong hands-on expertise in C#/.NET including serverless/Azure Functions and RESTful API designSolid experience with event-driven and messaging architectures (Azure Service Bus, queues, or equivalent pub/sub systems)Understanding of distributed-systems fundamentals: reliability, idempotency, concurrency, observabilityProduction experience running cloud-native services in Azure and/or AWSTrack record of mentoring engineers and elevating team practicesFluent in Agile/Scrum and Git-based source control; exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform is a plusMedia, streaming, high-traffic content platforms, or Graph-RAG content systems experience is a plusmentoring and leadershipcollaboration across teamsfocus on code quality and designC#/.NETAzure Functions (serverless)Azure Service Bus
