Job Summary and ResponsibilitiesAs an OB Technician, you will provide crucial support to the labor and delivery team, maintaining a safe, sterile environment for birthing mothers and newborns.Every day you'll assist with patient care, prep rooms, manage instruments, support deliveries, transport patients, and ensure efficient workflow, adhering to safety protocols.To be successful in this role, you need strong knowledge of OB procedures, aseptic techniques, and patient care. Your compassionate support, anticipation of needs, and calm demeanor are paramount for positive birthing outcomes.OBSERVATION OF PATIENTS: Continually observe patient needs by making rounds, and discussing patient needs with other staff members and family members. Assist nurses with care of patients. Supply patients with items needed for care of themself and their babyAssist with maintaining infant security by educating families on security practices of unit, wearing appropriate identification and maintaining awareness of activities and visitors on the unit.Communicate effectively and courteously with the patient/family member, FBC staff, ancillary staff, physicians.Meets job expectations of job standardsDepartmental GuidelinesAssisting with ambulation and transportation of patients when directed and it is appropriate. Promote the patient's right and need for privacy and maintain confidentiality. Provide emotional support for patients and their families by utilizing communication skills. Seek and accept direction from staff RN, NSM and Nurse Manager. Reporting significant changes in patients' condition to the RN, or Charge nurse immediately. Participate in quality assurance activities.Job RequirementsRequiredHigh School Graduate General Studies or 2 years equivalent work experience., upon hire orHigh School GED General Studies or 2 years equivalent work experience., upon hire and6 Months - 1 Year ExperienceBasic Life Support - CPR, upon hirePreferred* Completed and passed Surgical Scrub Technical Training and experience in acute obstetrical settingPlease be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire.
