Hands-on event industry internship experience at one of the nation¿s largest convention centers. College students are invited to apply for the Summer 2026 ¿ Spring 2027 Event Management Internship program. The Event Management team is seeking motivated students with a strong work ethic who want hands-on experience with the many facets of bringing an event to fruition. Must have strong time management skills, ability to adapt in a variety of situations and work enthusiastically in a changing environment. The internship involves direct exposure to event managers, other internal convention center departments, clients and vendors. Interns are responsible for supporting Event Management staff with daily department operations. This is a full-year paid internship and requires candidates to be available for at least 24hours per week. General training and supervision is received from the Event Management Internship Coordinators. Job Description Representative Duties/Assignments NOTE: Must be currently enrolled college student and enrolled during entirety of internship. Coordinates assigned events within the Orange County Convention Center to include event outlines, equipment coordination, monitoring events in progress, customer service and relations, and contractual matters Performs as liaison between users of the Orange County Convention Center and Center's staff Assists in planning and logistics for client, vendor, and exhibitor planning visits Attends pre-convention meetings with Center divisions, clients and their vendors Collects and manages information for the purpose of producing an event Assists in production of an event document and service orders, which includes schedules, department instructions, diagrams, and utilizing industry specific software Enforces written policies and procedures of the Center and exercises independent judgment in all activities with clients, event patrons and the general public Reviews lessee's contract to ensure dates, times, facilities and equipment provided are correct and contractual provisions have been fulfilled Manages events in progress to ensure compliance with Center policy and public safety codes Understands and meets the Center of Hospitality (CoH) standards Monitors show activity and updates on event website as well as on social media Completes day-to-day tasks that are critical to ensuring the assets and resources used to produce events are in proper working order and stored in a safe and organized fashion Performs other related duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Currently enrolled college student (evidence of enrollment to be verified as part of background process) Availability and desire for 2-3 semester internship Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays Capable of maintaining a positive attitude and hardworking nature while working long hours Self-sufficient in computer usage, primarily in Outlook Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Must possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail Maintain professional image at all times Must provide own transportation to/from work High School GED or equivalent Preferences At least 1-2 years course-work and/or real-world experience in an office setting. Pursuing a degree in Event Management or Hospitality Management Outgoing personality with strong customer service and interpersonal skills Excellent written and oral communication skills Presents self in professional manner and has the ability to interact with all levels of organization and outside clients Attentive to details with strong organizational skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Dependability - consistently at work on time and follows instructions Ability to maintain confidential information Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks conforming to shifting priorities, demands and timelines Self-starter with ability to take ownership on projects with limited supervision Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including management, other departments and vendors Be a flexible and reliable team player, both within Event Management and the Orange County Convention Center as a whole Application Deadline Open Date: 05/21/2026 Close Date: 06/04/2026 This posting is subject to close without prior notice.
