This role focuses on performing thermal-hydraulic safety analyses to support the design, licensing, and operation of pressurized water reactors (PWRs) or boiling water reactors (BWRs).You will work alongside experienced nuclear engineers and analysts to develop and apply accident simulation models, evaluate plant behavior under transient conditions, and support the safe deployment of nuclear fuel technologies.Key Responsibilities:Perform and document non-LOCA and LOCA accident analyses using Framatome's version of RELAP5 or similar thermal-hydraulic codesSupport evaluations of plant and core design changes and their impact on safety marginsAssist in the development and validation of analysis methodologies for new fuel productsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely delivery of safety analysis resultsContribute to the automation and improvement of analysis tools and workflowsParticipate in the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and regulatory documentationStay informed on nuclear safety regulations and industry best practicesYou areRequired:B.S. or M.S. in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related fieldFamiliarity with thermal-hydraulic principles and reactor system behaviorExperience using RELAP or similar code (e.g., TRACE, RETRAN, CATHARE, etc.) to simulate reactor system behavior during postulated accidents.Proficiency working in LinuxProficiency in Python, MATLAB, or similar tools for data analysis and automationStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to communicate technical concepts clearly and work effectively in a team environmentPreferred:Experience with PWR or BWR systemsExposure to accident analysis methodologies and safety evaluation processesFamiliarity with model development, validation, and uncertainty quantificationAdditional informationSpecialization: TAH - Safety, process and systems design - Reactor operation & functional designLevel of education (all) MasterPlace: USA, Virginia, Lynchburg, LynchburgEmployment level: StudentPosition under administrative investigation: YesItem subject to export control authorization: YesApply in 1 click
