Job DescriptionAmerican Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Boise, Idaho.Job Description & RequirementsSpecialty: ICU - Intensive Care UnitDiscipline: RNStart Date: 05/18/2026Duration: 13 weeks36 hours per weekShift: 12 hours, nightsEmployment Type: TravelAssignment OverviewShift: Nights, 3x12hrsHours: 36 hrs/wkStart Date: May 18, 2026Length: 13 weeksOpenings: 1DescriptionAmerican Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a night shift travel assignment in a combined SICU/MICU setting, requiring at least 2 years of ICU experience and an active ID or compact RN license.Details13-week contract in the Critical Care Unit (Floor 3) of an acute care hospital in Boise, IDCombined SICU and MICU unit, each with 16 beds, staffed together as one unit — neuro ICU patients are also cared for on this floorPatient population includes CABG, CVA, subarachnoid hemorrhage, intracerebral brain hemorrhage, GI bleeds, DKA, STEMI, septic shock, OD, respiratory failure, and neuro surgery — trauma, burn, and transplant patients are not seen on this unitNurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1 and 1:2RNs are required to titrate drips including dopamine, epi, norepinephrine, cardene, nitro, neo, vasopressin, diltiazem, insulin, and esmololRT equipment includes ventilators, BiPAP, and CPAP, with a minimum of 2 RTs present in each ICU at all timesRNs are responsible for monitoring and reading their own cardiac strips using Spacelabs monitoring equipmentCharting is done in Epic12-hour night shifts, 7p–7aEvery other weekend requiredFloating to other ICUs within the valley (Meridian and Nampa locations) is required; may also be floated outside the ICU to serve as a 1:1 sitterNo on-call or standby requirementRequirementsActive ID or compact RN license, in hand and not pending at time of considerationCurrent BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required — copies of active certifications required; pending certifications not acceptedMinimum 2 years of ICU experience required; experience in a similar-size or larger ICU and hospital is preferredEpic EMR experienceValid driver's license required2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked — must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehireCandidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this positionAdditional InformationEach unit has a charge nurse who does not routinely take a patient assignment, plus a resource nurse available on the unitCNAs are present on the unit — 2 per unit on days, 1–1.5 per unit on nightsBoth a hospitalist and intensivist are in-house at all timesOrientation consists of 1–2 shiftsNo special scheduling requests or blocked scheduling will be acceptedHoliday coverage may be required based on unit need, though the unit does try to accommodate requestsNo scrub color or dress code requirementFormer permanent employees must have been separated from the facility for at least one year before being eligible for a travel assignmentCRRT, ECMO, and balloon pump experience is not required and travelers will not be assigned to theseAmerican Traveler Job ID #P-702260.
