Core Responsibilities Construct, mount, dismantle, adjust, and maintain piping and hose configurations within shop environments, on vessels, and for temporary dockside support infrastructure. Handle the removal, creation, assembly, or replacement of diverse non-nuclear submarine piping networks, encompassing both pressure-rated and auxiliary systems. Prepare and align various piping circuits, such as potable water, sanitary, and cooling lines, for subsequent cutting, welding, or brazing operations. Create templates and manufacture high-pressure air and plumbing piping installations to ensure system integrity. Utilize templates to build and mount components by referencing established centerlines, frame lines, and base lines to ensure precise installation. Professional Qualifications Candidates must demonstrate a minimum of two years of focused experience working on commercial marine vessels or U.S. Navy ships, specifically performing the duties outlined above. Applicants must be skilled in the repair, installation, and modification of various piping and fitting types, including those handling steam, oil, gas, and water at varying pressures. Possess the technical expertise to shape, cut, bend, and align diverse metal piping systems to support the operational readiness of U.S. Naval submarines and surface vessels. Demonstrate the ability to accurately interpret and implement technical blueprints and schematics. Maintain the ability to execute shop-level mathematical calculations, utilizing geometry to effectively lay out arcs, angles, and circular components. Show proficiency in utilizing precision measurement instruments, such as calipers, depth gauges, and micrometers, to ensure high-quality, close-tolerance results. Maintain the capability to inspect, test, and remove installed piping, along with associated valves, hangers, and hardware, to ensure system safety. Hold necessary training and certifications in accordance with established workmanship standards, including MIL-STD 22D, S9074-AR-GIB-010/278, NAVSEA Standard Item 009-12, and NSTM Chapter 505.
