Lifeguard

Position Summary: The lifeguard is responsible to monitor activities, observe and provide assistance to swimmers, prevent accidents, project life and enforce regulations.Essential Responsibilities:Provide for the safety of all persons using the waterfront as directed by the Aquatics Director and according to the camp Aquatics ManualEnsure that all aspects of the camper experience are conducted in a compliant fashion for The Salvation Army "Safe From Harm" programStrict attention to duty will be required at all times when on duty at the waterfront. THIS MAY BE A MATTER OF LIFE OR DEATH. Perform daily observations of children for signs of abuse, physical ailment or injury. Report any problems as outlined in the "Child Abuse Prevention" section of this manualUnder the direction of the Waterfront Manager, provide instruction in swimming, boating and all waterfront activitiesAssist in keeping the waterfront area clean and safe (seaweed, etc.)Assist in program activities during inclement weatherCooperate with Program Director in combined staff activities, such as evening programs, skits, Sunday worshipAttend and participate as needed in all evening programsPerform other duties as assignedQualifications:Education/Experience: Must be at least 16 years of ageSkills, Knowledge & Abilities: Ability to accept guidance and supervisionDesire and ability to work with children and adults outdoorsChristian exhibiting the principles of Christian livingComputer Skills:Proficient in Microsoft Office 365Working knowledge of TEAMS and SharePointWillingness to learn new software as neededCertificates and Licenses:Currently possess or have the ability to obtain lifeguard certification and First Aid/Professional Rescuer CPR from nationally recognized providerComplete Safe From Harm training and keep current as needed
