The role will also use SolidWorks to create 3D models, use a 3D printer for rapid prototyping, and create 2D drawings for manufacturing. The Product Design Engineer will work with the Head Engineer, Director of Design, and the Purchasing Department to ensure correct part numbers are being used, current drawings are used for quoting from vendors, and production samples pass inspection.ResponsibilitiesEngineering lighting fixtures and assuring quality control for these fixturesDeveloping product models and drawings with SolidWorksWorking with the Head Engineer and the Director of Design on all new product designsUsing SolidWorks and 3D printer to design and rapid prototype the designs until they are approved for releaseUse SolidWorks to develop 2D drawings to vendors for quotingWorks with the Purchasing department to ensure pre-production prototypes the designs until they are approved for releaseWorks with Underwriters Laboratory to get the fixtures UL ratedResponsible for the Quality Control of all the lighting fixturesTests all fixtures to ensure they adhere to UL standardsNotifies Director of Design, Head Engineer, and Purchasing of any discovered product defects via e-mail and in personOther duties and projects as assignedServes as project lead, designer, and engineer, and supervises the work of other engineers, designers or CAD draftsmenExpert ability to prepare and maintain project input/outputs and a list of materialsRequirementsTechnical knowledge of electrical and lighting productsEngineering degree with an emphasis in electricity preferredKnowledge of UL requirements2 years working with electrical and lighting productsMust possess excellent communication skills and be self-motivatedAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneously4 years SolidWorks experienceSix Sigma knowledge is a plusProfessional, responsible, and dedicatedAbout YouExcellent written and oral communication skillsMust be self-motivatedAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyProfessional, responsible and dedicatedFriendly and flexibleHealth, Dental, and Vision Insurance enrollment on the 1st of the month after 30 days of employment401(k) Retirement plan after 6 months of employmentUp to 80 hours of accrued Vacation Paid Leave, prorated your first yearState and locally-regulated Paid Sick TimePaid Company Holidays, after 30 daysShort Term, Long Term Disability, Life, and AD&D optional Insurance benefits the 1st of the month after 30 days of employmentCompany-sponsored Life with AD&D Insurance CoverageOptional Enrollment in Health Care and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA)J-18808-Ljbffr
