Program Director - Afterschool Program

Play Study Win is looking for a Program Director to supervise an existing DYCD-funded After School program located in Brooklyn. We are the recipient of a number of Middle School Expansion/OST grants funded by the Department of Youth and Community Development. The Program Director must be mission-driven with strong commitment to provide nurturing, caring support for youth from low-income neighborhoods so they gain the skills necessary to close the educational and experiential opportunity gap. Program Director must believe the Program has the capacity to reduce inequities in public education by expanding opportunities and learning time. The Program Director has overall responsibility for the growth, quality, and success of the after-school program operations, students’ achievement and safety, and staff. The primary task is to manage day-to-day operations to ensure that it is meeting its goals, quality standards and guidelines, and all contract requirements including health and safety. The Director needs strong budgeting capabilities. The Program Director works in conjunction with school educators, especially the principal, site staff, program collaborators, families, and community partners to implement the Leadership in Action model. She/he must foster an atmosphere of fun and learning where the concepts of teamwork, fair play, and sportsmanship flourish and enable participants to become effective members of the community, workforce, and family. The Director needs skills to connect with highly diverse, multicultural populations of families and to help them learn skills they can use as parents to enable their children to succeed. They must work (a) in partnership with principal, (b) accountability for operations, staff, students & (c) management of day-to-day operations to ensure quality & contract requirements are met. Qualifications(a) BA preference for degree in education, child development, psychology or social work; (c) after-school management experience; (d) teaching experience preferred; (e) pass pre-employment investigation. Applicant must have DYCD Program Director experience. Minimum of 2 Years of Supervisory experience in DOH, school-age childcare/SACC (programming). Play Study Win is an equal opportunity employer.
