Project Coordinator (Engineering)Location: Eau Claire, WI – Western Avenue Service CenterRequisition #: 1572Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM | Primarily OnsitePosition OverviewXcel Energy is seeking a Project Coordinator (Engineering) to support Electric Distribution Operations in the NSPW region (Wisconsin and parts of Michigan).This role provides operational and scheduling support to senior work coordinators and field crews, helping ensure construction and maintenance activities are executed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with 1–3 years of coordination, dispatch, construction, or utility experience who are looking to gain exposure within the energy industry.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain and adjust daily work schedules across multiple crews based on priorities and resource availabilityAssign crews, equipment, and materials to support planned and emergent workReview and prepare construction work packets prior to assignmentCoordinate job readiness activities, including site checks and material verificationManage real-time scheduling changes due to field conditions or work rejectionsCommunicate schedule updates to supervisors, crews, internal teams, and external customersSupport system updates and maintain visibility into work management queuesAssist in documentation, reporting, and data validationEnsure alignment with safety standards, regulatory compliance, and operational best practicesWhat a Typical Day Looks LikeCommunicating with customers regarding construction schedules or delaysUpdating scheduling systems and work management toolsSupporting senior coordinators with lower-complexity coordination tasksPreparing locate tickets and construction documentationCollaborating with internal teams and external service providersAdjusting schedules in response to real-time field updatesQualificationsRequired:1–3 years of experience in coordination, dispatching, project support, construction, or utility operationsStrong customer service and communication skillsScheduling or work coordination experienceAnalytical and problem-solving skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentPreferredUtility or electric distribution experienceSAP or other work management systems experience (MWM a plus)Construction or field operations exposureBusiness, engineering, or construction management educationWork EnvironmentPrimarily office-based at the Eau Claire Service CenterCollaborative, team-oriented environmentWorks closely with 4 senior work coordinators and operations leadershipFully onsite initially; potential hybrid flexibility based on performance and business needTraining & Ramp-UpFirst 2 weeks: systems training and orientationMonth 1: foundational productivityMonth 2: 25–50% proficiencyMonth 3: full productivity expectedWhy Join Xcel Energy?Entry opportunity into the utility and energy sectorExposure to electric distribution operationsOpportunity to showcase skills for future internal rolesStable Monday–Friday scheduleValuable experience supporting critical infrastructure operationsAdditional InformationPossible local travel (mileage reimbursable)Target start: Early AprilHiring timeline: 3–4 weeksPay Rate Range18 - 24 USD hourly
