If you are ready to contribute to a quality guest experience, the Food and Beverage department may be the place for you!The Cook is responsible for preparing food items over hot equipment and maintaining kitchen organization and cleanliness according to the specifications provided by management. This position focuses on delighting the customer by preparing food in a timely manner and ensuring quality product.We are currently looking for a:Story Land - Food & Beverage Cook (Seasonal)Roles & Responsibilities:Role & Responsibilities:Greet customers, assist with questions, and manage accurate transactions to provide an engaging customer experiencePerform opening and closing procedures related to the assigned Food & Beverage location and as directed by team leads and shift supervisorsSet up and breakdown of workstationResponsible to adhere to all applicable labor regulations and guidelines, including scheduled start and end times, break schedules and consecutive days workedPrepare food following proper procedure and safety guidelines using fryers, grills and other professional kitchen equipmentPrepare food items according to menu specifications, portion sizes and proper cooking temperaturesEnsure all food product specifications and procedures are followed during preparationMaintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment: refrigeration, fryers, griddles, ovens, outdoor grills, food warmers, soda fountains, etc.Store and rotate stock and food items within assigned work locations Maintain a safe work environment, according to company and external inspection standardsReplenish condiments, beverages, and food supplies while maintaining a clean work areaMaintain compliance with company and industry best practices, policies, and procedures to create a safe environment for hosts and guestsMonitor product quality and communicate shrinkage/waste to the lead and/or supervisorProvide excellent customer serviceConduct transactions while ensuring all handling procedures are followed - including credit and refund transactions, loss preventionQuickly and politely respond to and resolve guest questions and concernsFollow all proper Personnel Protective Equipment guidelines when working around food preparation equipmentAll other duties assigned by leadershipEducation and Experience:No education requirements for this role1+ year of previous culinary work experience at a food service or restaurant preferred but not requiredMust become Food Handler Safety Certified (ServSafe or similar) or become so within 90 days of hire, when required by state and local guidelines.Language: Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus.Requirements:Must be at least 16 years of age to comply with Story Land Child Labor LawsAbility to work flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidaysMust have negative TB test results within the last 2 yearsMust have reliable transportation to and from your scheduled shiftAbility to comply with all uniform policiesMust possess safety-oriented mindset and understand the importance of complying with all state, and local food preparation and serving regulationsMust possess exceptional customer service skills, with an ability to resolve questions, problems, issues, and concerns in a positive and professional mannerAbility to follow direction, multi-task, and work as part of a team as well as independentlyAbility to use kitchen equipment and accessories in a safe and effective mannerAbility to keep the kitchen areas neat and organizedAbility to use step stools, as neededAbility to safely utilize knives and other food preparation equipment, as neededPhysical Requirements:Ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for majority of the workdayAbility to occasionally stoop, twist, kneel, bend, squat, or reach above shouldersAbility to withstand heat and humidity from the food preparation equipmentAbility to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 30 pounds or moreWorking Conditions:This role will be based in one or more food stall and/or restaurant locations throughout the park, with exposure to both indoor and outdoor environmentsFrequent exposure to the variable outside temperatures, including high heat, cold, direct sun, humidity, dust, rain and other weather conditionsSubject to constant repetitive motion, high noise levels, and heavily populated environmentsWorking at Story Land is about making people happy!
