Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is seeking a Charging Development Engineer for the Charging Development Team.The TeamThe Charging Development Team is a part of the Electrified Propulsion System Development (ePSD) Department, which focuses on the test and development of EV range/charging performances as well as electrified propulsion components and systems for Hyundai, KIA, and Genesis products.What You Will DoSupport the growth of the engineering group's capabilities for vehicle production and new technology developmentUnderstand the department's business model, strategic direction, purpose, and mission, and perform necessary tasksSupport the execution of the engineering group's goals and objectives through to successful completionSupport inter-team collaborations and knowledge sharing through transparent communicationsCreate and deliver engineering reports and presentations on short-term and long-term work activitiesProvide deep-dive technical support for electrified propulsion system-related concerns for pre-production and post-production issuesDevelop/maintain good relationships with tech experts from Korea's R&D Center and counterpart teamsTravel up to 15% of the time, both domestically and internationallyDevelop EV AC/DC charging solutions in accordance with DIN, ISO, and SAE standards to ensure functionality, safety, and interoperabilityIntegrate advanced features such as smart charging, vehicle‐to‐grid (V2G) communication, and cybersecurity measures in alignment with relevant standardsDevelop and execute testing protocols to verify that charging equipment and systems meet DIN, ISO, and SAE performance standardsExecute EV charging interoperability testing using grid simulators and battery discharge equipmentExecute EV charging interoperability in public infrastructureExecute EV V2L/V2H, charge scheduling, and battery condition testingAnalyze and interpret test results and provide insights for design improvements and optimizationsLead efforts to ensure all EV charging policies adhere to DIN, ISO, and SAE regulations, codes, and safety practicesStay updated with changes to DIN, ISO, and SAE standards and lead efforts to incorporate them into charging infrastructure designCollaborate closely with cross‐functional teams, including software and hardware, to develop and test charging systemsIdentify opportunities for innovation in EV charging technologyIntroduce selected charging technologies to current or next‐generation products through active communication with production programs via Korea's R&D headquartersResearch activities with external partners, including national labs, universities, and suppliersInvestigate industry trends through benchmarking competitors' systems and setting performance targetsWhat You Will Bring to the RoleBasic QualificationsBachelor's degree in electrical engineering or another related field3+ years of relevant experienceExperience working on electrified vehicle projects, including HEV, PHEV, and BEVUnderstanding and experience in electrical measurements for energy consumptionProven track record of delivering complex engineering projects related to testing and simulating xEVs and their charging systemsPractical knowledge of xEV charging system components, principles, operation, and vehicle electrification technologyKnowledge of xEV charging system component test proceduresExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsValid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving recordPreferred QualificationsKnowledge of DIN, ISO, and SAE standards related to electric vehicle charging and infrastructure (e.g., ISO 15118, DIN Spec 70121, SAE J1772, etc.)Proficient in relevant software tools for electrical design, simulation, and compliance assessmentUnderstanding of renewable energy integration, grid interactions, and energy storage systemsExperience with data acquisition and analysis tools such as ETAS/INCA/MDA, Vector CAN, and MATLAB/SimulinkWhat Hyundai Can Offer YouZero-dollar Employee Premiums on Medical, Dental, and Vision for You and Your Family100% Employer-paid Disability and Life InsuranceGenerous Paid Time Off, including Vacation, Sick, and Abundant HolidaysHybrid Work ScheduleCompetitive SalariesA Global Environment that Fosters DiversityRetirement Savings and Planning BenefitsAccess to Health Savings Accounts and Flexible Spending AccountsFlexible Work HoursOther DetailsCandidates applying for positions with Hyundai KIA must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
