Salary: Depends on QualificationsLocation : GA 30721, GAJob Type: Full TimeJob Number: 01687Department: Public WorksDivision: Public WorksOpening Date: 04/29/2026DescriptionPURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATIONThe purpose of this classification is to assist the Crew Supervisor in overseeing, supervising, scheduling, and participating in road and bridge construction and maintenance, roadside maintenance, and other Public Works projects and activities.OPEN UNTIL FILLEDExamples of DutiesESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe following duties are normal for this position. Other duties may be required and assigned.Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, and assisting the Crew Supervisor with employee performance appraisals.Supervises and performs skilled maintenance work associated with the construction and maintenance of roads and bridges including, paving or grading.Monitors workplace safety; assures safe work area; investigates all accidents.Assists in monitoring inventory levels of equipment, tools, and supplies; ensures availability of adequate materials to conduct work activities; initiates requests for new or replacement materials; hauls materials, tools, and equipment.Prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, or other documents; maintains time records for personnel.Receives various forms, reports, correspondence, manuals, reference materials, or other documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate; informs mechanics of technical updates.Attends and/or conducts staff and safety meetings.Serves on call at all times for equipment emergencies.Communicates with supervisor, employees, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.Operates a pickup truck or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions.ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONSPerforms other related duties as required.Typical QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma or GED; four (4) years of experience in road maintenance and repair; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license. Previous supervisory experience in a private or public sector public works related environment is important. Knowledge of GDOT paving standards is essential. CDL license is preferred.
