Job Description RCH Solutions is seeking a Full Stack Engineer with a strong data visualization focus who will be instrumental in the continued investment in discovery research. We are currently seeking an outstanding engineer with modern full-stack TypeScript development skills and proven experience turning complex scientific and analytical data into clear, performant, interactive interfaces. Using a broad range of front-end engineering, visualization, and cloud data methods, the successful individual will continue to evolve growing initiatives for data exploration, visualization, and self-service analytics to enable the scientific community. The successful candidate will partner closely with data scientists, product stakeholders, and platform engineers to translate analytical requirements into production-quality applications. This is a hands-on build role: expertise in Next.js and React, thoughtful UI and product design instincts, and comfort working directly against cloud data warehouses are highly desired. Role and ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, and maintain full-stack TypeScript applications using Next.js, React, and MUIDevelop rich, interactive data visualizations with D3.js, from exploratory prototypes through to production componentsWork directly with data scientists to scope, refine, and deliver tailored visualization requirementsQuery, model, and surface data from GCP services, primarily BigQuery and Google Cloud Storage (GCS)Contribute to and extend the TEP design system, ensuring visual and interaction consistency across applicationsWrite and maintain unit tests and browser-based end-to-end tests using PlaywrightShip features through the existing Docker / Cloud Run deployment pipelineApply AI coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude, etc.) within the established AI coding guardrails to accelerate delivery without compromising code qualityParticipate in code review, technical design discussions, and iterative product refinementBalance product and engineering concerns, contributing UI/UX input rather than waiting on fully specified designsEssential RequirementsProfessional full-stack development in TypeScript across both client and serverProduction experience with Next.js and ReactHands-on experience building custom data visualizations with D3.js (charting-library-only experience is not sufficient)Component development with MUI or a comparable component libraryWorking familiarity with GCP, specifically BigQuery and GCSComfort operating within an existing Docker and Cloud Run deployment pipelineAutomated testing with Playwright, covering both unit tests and browser E2E testsProduct and UI design capability: able to work from, and contribute to, an established design systemDemonstrated ability to collaborate with data scientists on analytical and visualization requirementsPractical experience using AI coding tools (Copilot, Claude, etc.) in a professional settingAbility to work independently in a distributed team on a UK or US East Coast scheduleMinimum QualificationsBS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or equivalent practical experience2–7 years of professional software engineering experienceStrong JavaScript/TypeScript fundamentals, including asynchronous patterns and typed API contractsProficiency with modern front-end tooling, Git, and CI/CD workflowsSQL proficiency sufficient to write and optimize analytical queriesCollaborator across a diverse set of groups, including non-technical scientific stakeholdersExcellent communication skillsMultitasking: balancing a diverse set of projects and deadlinesCuriosity and excitement about technologyPreferred QualificationsExperience visualizing complex biological, chemical, or other scientific data setsExperience with large-scale or streaming data rendering performance (canvas/WebGL, virtualization, aggregation strategies)Experience contributing to or maintaining a shared design systemFamiliarity with BigQuery cost and access-pattern optimizationExposure to accessibility standards in data-dense interfacesTrack record of success contributing to and advancing discovery programsAdditional Information Great talent should benefit from a great work environment.
