Yadkin County Early College Liaison and Student Success Advisor

The Yadkin County Early College Liaison and Student Success Advisor will report to the Associate Dean of Student Services. The Advisor will be based at the Yadkin County Early College High School and is responsible for helping high school students define career aspirations and identifying community college programs and/or training to meet those aspirations. They will empower students to make informed decisions regarding career and educational plans.Hours: This position will be housed at the Yadkin Center, Monday through Friday, 7:30 am - 4:30 pm. (after training and onboarding), unless needed in Dobson to meet with students.NOTE: Some weeknights and weekends will be required.This is an 11-month positionEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesA.Serve as the College Liaison for Yadkin County Early College High School by:Enhancing communications between high school staff and relevant SCC academic and student services staff.Providing high school staff information on relevant college policies and procedures.Providing Early Alerts to designated high school staff.Mentoring and advising all Early College high school students.Notifying academic deans of scheduling needs.Coordinating meetings between SCC and high school employees.B. Serve as the SCC Student Services Liaison to the Yadkin Center including but not limited to basic financial aid, admissions & registration, student life, and advising for all visitors.C. Teach ACA-122 at the Yadkin Center to support YECHS students.D.Providing exceptional academic advising services to prospective and current students about college policies and programs.E.Advising students about the possible consequences of academic decisions and provide guidance to individual support services.F.Providing supportive interventions to help students success in high school/college courses; providing academic success strategies to facilitate successful transition, foster progression, and promote completion of credentials.G.Monitoring student progress in high school and college classes and work with students, and instructors to develop plans for success.H.Assisting with student recruitment, such as high school visitations, career fairs, college days, open houses, and informational sessions.I. Providing career exploration, planning, and development guidance and college advisement to high school students.J. Engaging students, counselors, faculty, parents, and all other stakeholders with information sessions related to college opportunities.K. Preparing formal data collection reports in a timely manner.L. Attending program advisory meetings as assigned.M. Maintaining quality partnerships with secondary school personnel in collaboration with the Associate Dean of Student Services.N. Providing assistance to students during their transition from secondary to postsecondary institutions.O. Supporting advising needs for traditional students at the Yadkin Center.P. Participating in professional development.Q. Assisting with new student orientation, registration, graduation.R. On board and advise all students in collaboration with the Purpose Center to effectively recommend program placement through appreciative advising measures.S. Provide support to college transfer and workforce training advising initiatives across campus including but not limited to, open house events and program area training.T. Consult with program area directors to ensure holistic student support across campus.U. Performing other duties supporting SCC's mission.V. Serve as advisor to a select population of Career & College Promise students as assigned by the Associate Dean of Student Services.W.
